Chances for Cornell engineering

Hey there!!
I'm an international (Indian) planning to apply to Cornell. I need to know whether or not I have a chance at it and how strong it is( don't want to get my hopes up for nothing).

SAT: W 740 CR 800 M 800
Subject tests: Math 2 : 800 Chemistry: 800

Class 10: 10/10 CGPA
Class 11: 85% (overall) (internal exams)
Class 12: 90% (internal exams) (95% expected on externals)

ECs: Karate International Player (lots of golds)
AFS exchange student/ volunteer/ counselor
School House prefect
Managed 3 charities at school
Public-speaking; did lots of debate at school (no opportunities for state/ national/ inter school level)
Did a summer job at my parents factory in 10th grade
(also did a lot of nature camps? from 4-10 grade)
(played soccer on my school team??)

essays: common app: pretty good.. talked about how karate taught me to be tenacious and how its helped me grow
Cornell: talked about how technology connects to sustainability for me; my inclination to engineering; and linked it to Cornell

I was also thinking of writing about my charities in the optional essay section of the common app. ( Common app help said I could)

recommendation: good probably... from my math and science teachers and also from my math tutor and karate coach...
counselors recommendation is really good as well.

Hope I do get in... Its alwayss been a dream for me!!

Your version of GPA seems a little low, but I’m not too familiar with it so I could be wrong. Other than that though, your app seems as good as any. Only concern is that international students applications are need-aware, so if you need a lot of financial aid, your chances diminish significantly.

Hmm… The GPA could have been better but then this is the trend with every indian student. Until class 10 our course work is very simple and suddenly it shoots up in 11th grade.
I did use a GPA calculator from world education services (recommended by a university rep.) and my GPA was 4, so if they convert I’m in luck!!
Other than that school exams are much more difficult than the actual thing since colleges in india look at only the scores for the external exams…

Also I don’t need a LOOOTT of financial aid but a bit would be appreciated…
Btw isn’t Cornell need blind regarding admissions for internationals as well… I think i read that somewhere,.

Yes you’re right. I always forget, Cornell is the exception to the rule
