GPA: 4.0 (almost certain)
SAT 2: Biology M-710
I'll probably take 3 more; math IC, Chem and US History next year, and probably two or three more during the senior year.
AP: Euro-?

I HAVENT TAKEN THE SAT YET SO CAN ANYONE GIVE ME AN IDEA OF WHAT A GOOD SCORE WOULD BE FOR COLUMBIA? I ALSO TAKE AP EURO THIS YEAR AND IM GOING TO TAKE AP US NEXT YEAR, AND PROBABLY 6 MORE APS DURING THE SENIOR YEAR.

Begone, you caps-locked, bridge-dwelling troll!!!

i read like 1/3 of that. maybe someone from the columbia board can sum that up for us.

i cant decide whether i should say:
"go away and come back in a year, sophomore"
"why don't you post this on the columbia board where people actually know/care about columbia"
or
"this sounds like a troll"
first.

I'd say the third one. Oh wait, I already did ;)

I don't think this is a troll. I'd have to say his chances are excellent. And you guys may think he's a troll, but people on the harvard forum say he needs MORE ec's. flabbergasted expression

thanks sethblue lol ur like the only positive comment. yea sry i keep posting so many times. ill stop. i hope i didnt make u all angry.

no we're not angry, but yeah, don't double post, just "bump." If you're real (sorry, I guess we doubted you--we're really usually alot more helpful than this lol) you're on a great track for getting into cornell, but seriously, don't worry about college until you're well into your junior year!

we're just used to people making up fake lists of stats to be annoying. Typically they'll make a super long EC list have great stats and then at the bottom ask about a school other than cornell and tell us cornell is a safety and that they might settle for it--does anybody remember "iwannabeanivyleaguehottie" (except with random capital letters all over) or whatever her name was...concert mistress of two symphony orchestras, lol)--so i guess it's a twisted compliment that we thought you were a troll.

seth blue, the person on the harvard board was being sarcastic because he is trolling

uh, who's trolling? the op?

Yes i remember her. And the hundreds of other trolls who make up fake stats lists.

wow there was actually someone who did that kind of thing? lol when was this? well anyway, im not doing the same thing as this person did. so please dont get angry at me! ok well anyway, does anyone have any advice for me? it looks like this thread is turning into a discussion of "iwannabeanivyleaguehottie" thing lol

haha, sorry, she was just rather memorable...

My advice, SERIOUSLY, is don't worry so much about college now. You've not even started Junior year.

So far we've got on you: estimate GPA, and ECs for half of HS...test scores are big, and until we know those (ALL OF THEM, or at least most) we can't say much. Forecasts on your part aren't worth much either. (no offense) Your GPA and ECs look like you're on track though.

In terms of improving your chances at cornell, FOCUS yourself (not that you're unfocused, just a good thing for getting into cornell in general). Go with a few of your ECs that are most important to you and pursue them to the furthest extent you are capable of. Passion and dedication gets students into cornell. It's fine to stay involved in those activities that are 1 hour a week, but get really into your main ECs. Also, next year, be really friendly to all your teachers, get to know them. Over the first few months of school you'll start to get an idea of which ones are the smartest and the closest to you--those are the ones you want a rec. from, not necessarily the teacher from the hardest course you got an A in. Also talk to your G. Counselor alot, he/she will be writing you a rec too, and get to know her, talk to her, get friendly. any other questions.

bottom line: you're on the right track, but people wont be able to predict your chances until your late junior year to pre-senior summer.

thx sparticus for the advice!

no prob .

were u the group that memorized your piece at the lincoln center chamber competition?

who is this? no we're not the group, but u were there too? were u a group that performed too?

i didnt perform there. but i went with my school to watch. Are you going to Allstate next year? oh wait..ur a soph...hm, did u get 100 on nyssma? cuz that almost guareentees u a spot in the orchestra.

yea i got a 100, but i heard it's hard for cellos even with a 100. so i hope i still made it.
