Chances for Cornell

Hey everyone!

I recently discovered Cornell University’s College of Human Ecology and think it would be the perfect fit for me. It’s definitely a reach…

Here are some of my stats:

Academics:
-1410 on new SAT
-4.311 weighted GPA out of 5
-Not sure of rank yet, but will guess around top 20%
-took two AP tests this May, Biology and APUS and will take AP Calc, AP Physics, and AP World senior year
-part of the S.T.E.M. small learning community within my high school

EC:
-did volleyball for two year, varsity sophomore year
-secretary of an international relations club
-national organization for women club
-work ~25 hours a week at my job
-take care of my younger siblings
-national honors society

Volunteer experience:
-will be going to Uganda for 5 weeks this summer to work at an orphanage
-volunteer at local art museum

Letter of recommendations:
-my high honors philosophy teacher
-counselor
-possibly my boss at my job, but don’t know if this would look good

Others:
-New Jersey, but my mom lives in NY so I would get instate tuition for the state subsidized part of Cornell which the college of human ecology is part of
-applying for financial aid
-asian american and pacific islander ethnicity
-female
-$30,000-$50,000 income bracket
-essay is going to be really good

THANKS!!! I know it’s a long shot, but I read somewhere that ED for College of Human Ecology was a 70% acceptance and regular is around 35%??

“Essay is going to be really good.”

Make sure it is, and you’ll stand a chance. Other than that, don’t stress about it, keep doing your EC’s, enjoy Uganda, and stay strong!
