Thanks. My interview is next week. Already March 10th seems sooo soon. Ah!

The biggest thing is how you will contribute to the school. In college applications, I think this is a little different and more serious; boarding schools are more lenient with whom they accept (obviously). I’m familiar with Choate admissions, but not Deerfield ones, though I’m assuming they’re similar. It’s good that you’re into track and music, if you are really into them. Just make sure that you conveyed yourself well in your essays, too.

My essay wasn’t very good.

AHH! One of my biggest things going for me was my math! I was supposed to be in the schools math competition next week but I couldn’t make a meeting and they choose someone else to take my spot! My interview is after the math competition. Do I have any chance left?

buuuuuuummmmmmmmmp

Looks like a pretty good chance to me - great grades, nice scores, the unknowns are how your interview went (did they see you as engaged/engaging), and your teacher reccomendation (you might be surprised, most teachers that “hate” you oftentimes are just trying to push you to work harder - or even if not, sometimes will give you a decent recommendation because they feel it reflects on them too).

on the day of my interview there was a lot of snow and they said they could just wave the interview and call me if they had any questions. I know this doesn’t mean I’m definitely not getting in but does it lower my chances? Now i’m prepping for a phone interview but they said they would only call of they had any questions, so if they’re not interested in me then I know if they don’t call. Does anyone know how to prep for a phone interview?

woah ive never heard of that… lol a deerfield representative came to my area and i had my interview with her. that sucks. u cant really preep for an interview, just answeer questions honestly

but do you think it lowers my chances?

uhmm idk but honestly yes. deerfield has enough apps as it is, according to the deerfield football coach, nd he says that my interview helped my app sooo idk

k thanks for the feedback.

You have a chance…but you might unfortunately be lost in the applicant pool. For a lot of people, the essay portion allows them to stand out, but you say you didn’t do well on it.

I haven’t gotten a phone call from Deerfield, does this mean there not interested? They said they would call if they had any questions about me. Ahh!

anybody? 10char

…

The interview is quite essential

I know it’s essential. I was wondering though about how they said they would call me if they had any questions. Today is the 2nd of march and they haven’t called. I’m wondering if I won’t get in because they haven’t bothered to call me to ask questions.

I think you have a fabolous xhance but alot of peope r applying to deerfield. Do u have any connects in the school who can help u?

@ mandy: do you live near Deerfield? Or probably not more than a 5 hour drive?
If yes, and if you are really determined in getting in, GO. Ask your parents to drive you. It’s crazy, I know; but since it’s crazy, it will definitely make you outstanding, courage and craziness wise.

If no, take the initiative to call DA first. M10 is approaching, and adcoms are very busy. Eventhough they probably lay you off, they will know that you are really interested. And perhaps give you a spot as a late applicant lol.

MonochromeAddict: I don’t have any connections to the school at all.

jyun212: I live about 3 hours and 45 minutes away but it would be impossible to go there because my mom works so much, from 8 to 6:30, and so there would be no one to drive me. I’m not sure about your idea to call them, I mean they might just get annoyed. What do you mean by lay me off? I submitted my application on time so I don’t see how I would be a lat applicant.

Thanks.
