Chances for Deerfield Academy?

I am applying to Deerfield Academy this year. My grades this year are
French: B+
Algebra I Honors: A
English: B
Band: A
PE: A
Science: A
Social Studies: A
CAD: A
I know that hey look at 6th grade and 7th grades as well. I didn't do as well then. But over the three years my average is a 3.728.

I don't have that many EC's but I
have played the trumpet since 7th grade in my middle schools concert and jazz band, and I got 1st chair by the middle of seventh grade, most people started in 4th grade.
I also am involved in my middle schools Math Counts Club. Our first competition is next week.
I run the 400 and 800 meters in track. I don't actually remember any of my scores but at last years final track meet I played first in both.

My English teacher definitely gave a horrendous recommendation letter, she hates me, but my math and band teacher probably gave really good recommendations. My admissions essay was pretty bad, nor horrible but like C material.

And I just got my SSAT test scores back. I got
Verbal 737, 91%
Math: 746 88%
Reading:713 90%
and somehow my total is a 93% and 2196. my national average is 97%

bumb…

can someone please chance me?

maybe

how was your interview

ssat=good
grades=good

but you dont have enough ECs which is a big problem or at least in my opinion

I haven’t done the interview yet. Do you think even with not very many EC’s I have a chance though?

in MHO, it really depends on the interview, and if you are applying for ninth grade you have a greater chance cause they arent looking for kids who will come in and make a big difference at a school like say, in athletics, arts, and theater ETC. they for freshman year are looking for nice, smart kids who will have a positive effect on the community of the school

2GSGL (Good Stats. Good Stuff. Good Luck.)

Thanks, but what does MHO stand for?

my hoenst opinion…

i agree with hco, most kids coming in soph, junior, senior post grads bring something special to the table. im not saying all, but a good chunk of them do. most of my friends who got in frosh year didnt have spectacular hooks or anyhting, but my friends who did enter soph and junior year did such as sports and music

I’m applying for 9th grade. Do you know what you’re supposed to wear for the interview?

sure 10char
and for your question about interview attire, clothes

What else makes you stand out? Your running seems good, and also how long you’ve been doing things matters too. Quality over quanitity :)

I’m really proud of how far I’ve come playing the trumpet. The other trumpet players started in 4th grade but I was able to catch up to them and get 1st chair by the middle of last year. I’m also half hispanic. Math is my strong spot in school.

That seems good. Haha if only math was my strong spot. :)

:) but what am i supposed to wear and and say for the interview? any tips?

Just nice clothing but not too formal. Also, wear something warm!!

Should I wear the class dress? I was thinking of wearing a skirt with a nice blouse. Sound okay? Also is their any good way to practice for the interview? I’m really nervous.

bumb…

dont be worried or extremely nervous about the interview, just be yourself.
while your waiting drink some water so you dont get a dry mouth or anything, (:
talk about things that interest you, and what you like about the school the most if you are asked anything like that.

obviously you a girl but think the equivalent of khakis or chords , blue blazer, oxford shirt (white or solid colors), tie optional, dress belt (nothing with skulls on it), shoes either dress, loafers, dock-siders, peacoat or fleece depending on temperature. sorry but i really dont know what a girl would wear but you should wear something like the this expect for girls. basically well dressed (i tend to lean towards the preppy side) but nothing like jeans or anything like that. hope this helps
