Chances for double legacy @ Princeton?

Hey guys,

I’m curious about my chances for Princeton as a double legacy (both my parents attended Princeton).

I’m a rising senior and I have a 4.41 weighted/4.04 unweighted GPA. I’ve taken all honors classes for my core and language classes freshman-sophomore year. My junior year, I took two AP classes, and the rest honors. My senior year, I’m taking four AP classes and one regular class. So, a total of 6 AP, 12 honors, and 2 regular classes throughout my four years in high school. My weighted GPA shows an upward trend since freshman year.

As far as extracurriculars, I have been on student government for four years, as liaison (freshman year), and class president (sophomore, junior, senior years). I have run varsity cross country and track all three seasons for four years (doing well at state competitions and running in some national competitions), and I have been a captain of the cross country team for three years. I have been a member of Peers Against Narcotics and Drug Abuse for all four years, and I am a leader of this club my senior year. I am a mentor for a middle school student in the Little Big program (3 years). I have been a member of Future Business Leaders of America for four years and placed at states and qualified for/attended the national competition every year. I am a member of NHS and I have been a member of Leadership Corp (a club at my school where you assist underclassmen in teambuilding) since junior year.

I have taken the ACT and SAT once. I got a 34 on my ACT (36 English, 28 Math, 34 Reading, 36 Science, 11/12 essay) and 1510 on my SAT (720 Math, 790 Reading).

I intend to major in political science, public policy, international relations, or psychology.

Thank you!

You are a strong applicant with achievements of which you can be proud. Congratulations!

No one has a crystal ball to be able to tell how admissions officers will view your application in comparison to those of others. Submit the best application you can and hope for the best!

Double legacy may give you an edge, but alas, it does not always mean you will be admitted. The valedictorian of my son’s high school was double legacy to Harvard and she was rejected.

Try for Princeton, but also apply to some matches and safeties you would love.

Good luck.

You are a competitive applicant. Your stats and ECs are pretty good. Your legacy hook will probably help your application if you apply early action. Write great essays and you could get accepted
