I agree with ay_caramba. Like most applicants (especially ED), your essay(s) will be your distinguishing feature. Great essays that really show your love for Duke will go a long way toward admission, especially given your GPA, courseload, and ecs.

Just one question-why (and how) in the world did you take IB Math (Methods, I presume) if you're not in IB?!?! Why not AP Calc AB? Just wondering.

Also, everyone keeps mentioning your weighted GPA. Do you know your unweighted GPA?

The honors math program at my school goes like this: 7A-8A-9H-10H Pre/IB- 11H IB/SL- BC Calc- in the honors program you have to write 5 research papers, 1 a year from 7th through 11th. the accelerated program is 7A-8A-10A-11A-AB-BC. The honors program is weighted for four years whereas accelerated only for 2.

i can only estimate my unweighted gpa, as it is not provided
using my transcript i got 94.6

its also not fair for me because my middle school math classes were taking 9th and 10th grade math and didnt get weighted. if you are familiar with the regents in ny, i took the math a in january 8th grade, whereas everage students take it june 10th grade. our middle school math was definitely much harder than the other classes, and it is on the hs transcript but unweighted.

ive liked it for a while, but i loved it when i visited at the end of august. i met with a chem professor and he pretty much convinced me thats where i should go. also, you cant beat cameron indoor stadium for a place to watch a college basketball game. my friend is also one of their top recruits for lacrosse.
