Chances at AB DUKE?

<p>hey guys,</p>

<p>i am currently finishing my sophomore year in high school and am aiming for the A.B. Duke scholarhips (full-ride). Based on my following academics and extra-curriculars, please tell me my chances of getting the scholarship. Thanks!</p>

<p>Academics:
Currently (10th Grade:
Weighted GPA: 5.15
Unweighted GPA: 4.93
Current Rank:5/652</p>

<p>By senior year, I should have a 5.51 gpa. (rank should go up)</p>

<p>AP's taken this year: AP Calculus AB/BC, AP Chemistry, AP World History, AP Psychology
11: AP Calculus III/Differential Equations, AP Statistics, AP Biology, AP Environmental Science, AP U.S. History, AP Government Politics, AP English
12: AP Further Math, AP Physics C, AP Economics, AP HL Chemistry, AP English, AP Human Geography, one other AP (havent decided)</p>

<p>Extra-Curricular:
-Student Government:
Freshman Class Senator
Sophomore Class Council
Next year, Junior Class President. (won election)
Senior Year: aiming for Student Body Pres/VP's
-Piano Competitions (>6 years)
-Indian Carnatic Music (8 years)
-Science Olympiad Captain
-Junior Varsity Science Bowl
- Beta Club (2 years)
-National Honor Society Board (11-12)
-Research: started last December, submitting to SIEMENS, INTEL, and other competitions senior year. (on hyperthermophiles)</p>

<p>-Applying for NIH, RSI, and other internships for junior summer.
-Trying for Chemistry Olympiad, Physics Olympiad, Biology Olympiad exams the years i take AP Course for each.
-Studying really hard for all AP Exams (5's). Will get National AP Scholar or Siemens AP Scholar. </p>

<p>SAT: havent taken it yet, but aiming for at least 2200.
PSAT: >220
SAT II: taking Chemistry, Math, and World History this May.</p>

<p>What are my chances? Any advice on what else i can do or improve on to increase my chances? It is only my sophomore year so I've got time to work with. Thanks a lot!</p>

<p>I don’t know if you’d even get into Duke with those stats, let alone a full ride.
I mean you’d have a shot at admittance, but a full ride seems a ways away out of your league. (Keep up the good work though)</p>

<p>Alright, so what do you think I am missing?</p>

<p>I think you’re very likely going to get in, if you follow up on the Olympiad events. </p>

<p>The AB Duke dealio, I’m not sure - it’s pretty difficult to get in… :(</p>

<p>Try to diversify and maybe do more volunteer work. I would recommend going up to a local government agency related to something you’re interested in. Even if they don’t have a program, persist to see if you can get involved by telling them you’re only there for experience’s sake - you can suggest to them an unpaid internship.</p>

<p>you both have great chances… but for the person who made this thread, try to get your SATs in the 2300 range, then you i would be shocked if you didn’t get in, because everything else looks great.
