Hi all, I’ve already applied to the UC’s, but I want to get some idea of my chances of getting into UCD.

UC GPA: ~3.92 SAT I: 2110 (700 CR, 720 M, 690 W) SAT II:
770 (Math Level 2)
750 (Biology-M) AP:
5 (US History)
4 (Biology)
2 (Chemistry) Extracurricular:
CSF (11th, 12th grade)
Forex Club (11th, 12th grade) - cofounder, not a school club
Game Theory Club (12th grade)
Key Club (10th, 11th, 12th)
Violin (8 years) Community service: For this I just multiply hours/week by weeks/year to get total number of hours right? If that’s right then I have 116 hours.

So what do you think of my chances of getting in to UCD for engineering? If I applied for a non-impacted major I probably wouldn’t be so worried, but I’m not sure how much more difficult it is to get into engineering. Thanks for your help.

Edit - If you have any idea of my chances at the other UC’s, please tell me!

You're in at UCD. Same with I, SB, SC.
You'd be a match at UCSD, but perhaps not for bioengineering. It's the most competitive major there and one of the best in nation. You have a great shot at the other majors though. LA/B are a slight reach / reach.

I'm going to agree with vc89. You're a match...maybe even a safe match for engineering at UCI, UCD, UCSB, and UCSC. For UCSD, you have a good 400ish points to go for bioengineering, which is a lot. Remember, this is from the information you have given. I'm sure there is much more.

Jas0n, I looked over the comprehensive review for UCSD. Can someone check if I did this right?: 3920 (GPA) + 2110 (SAT I) + .8770 + .8750 (SAT II) = 7370. The cutoff for 2006 was 7421, so if I got a few more points from other areas such as community service, etc. I would be around there. Is this right? And also do you know what the cutoff for bioengineering is? Thanks again.

Actually, it's also 80 percent of your SAT Reasoning Test. Other than that, that's about right. The cutoff was about what you said and the cutoff for bioengineering is either 78xx or 8xxx. One or the other. I'm not so sure so sorry, but I'm leaning a lot towards the 78xx.
