<p>sat- 1480 (800m, 680v)
sat2's- 800 math, 700 writing, 800 physics, 800 chem, 790 bio.
ap's- 5 in calc, stats and chem.
current ap's- physics, biology and english (i hate it but i'm taking so that i dont have to in college)
class rank- 3/220+
ec's- not that many basically nhs and mu alpha theta, student council, school radio + some math contests... i've won a couple of state level competitions etc. but that doesnt say much considering i live in idaho. work 15-20 hrs a week. didnt really try to be that involved. </p>
<p>applied ed to caltech but got deferred... didnt think my essays were too good. actually still not confident about my essay writing abilities. however, i think i got really good rec's. what are my chaces at these schools? i'm also looking for decent financial aid cos i doubt my parents can shell out 40k a year... </p>
<p>and any of you are familiar with the region, i've from a lot of people that uofidaho actually has a very good engineering program. is this true? cos it's kinda hard to imagine... anyways, thanks for helpin out. :-)</p>
<p>I highly suggest you apply for honors engineering, if you are going to apply to UT Austin. Your classmates will be very intelligent(Almost as smart as Berkeley engineering students. They are the best from texas). only top 10% of the entire engineering students can join honors engineering, but I think you have an excellent shot at it. Plus, if you are in honor classes, you will qualify for instate tuition ( $6000 tutition per year)</p>
<p>Locally, I've seen some wierd decisions from Mudd. A good friend of mine applied last year with a 1540(along with a good class load, decent grades, great ECs but no research or anything like that) and was flat out rejected. Another had a mid 1300(lower grades, nearly no ECs) and was accepted(although she was a female and of an underrepresented race).</p>
