hello all! I’m a rising senior and rutgers is my first choice for nursing. my stats are 3.9-4.0 gpa (weighted), top 15% of my class, and 1530 sat. a few honors and a few ap classes, marching band (guard) for 4 years, latin club 4 years, president of tri-m music honor society. for math i’ll be taking “algebra III” next year (i’ve already taken alg I/II, geometry and trig). anyone think i have a shot? (Also I’m in state if that matters) thank you!
Your stats are excellent and within the average for nursing. So you don’t really have to worry about the grades and the SAT, as they are excellent. However the thing with nursing that I’ve noticed is that Rutgers-NB looks for applicants that have expressed a genuine interest in the medical field outside of school. So if you could, try some volunteering in a hospital or with the Red Cross. Emphasize your love of patient interaction in your activities; you could do that as well in your essay, but RU doesn’t really read them unless you’re on the border of getting in. Your stats are excellent, but your interest in nursing is what will distinguish you from the other applicants. I have seen people with good stats, but not as good as yours, get in with med related ECs.
thank you so much!
