Chances for Stern/Columbia

shuffleace: On paper, Stern credentials and admissions difficulty are MARGINALLY higher, albeit higher so you’re right, than the rest of NYU – Stern students obviously perform well on the math portions of the SAT, did very well in high school (like all NYU students); and to my understanding the UG Stern acceptance rate is more around 21-24% (the 14% mentioned here previously is for the MBA program), as opposed to CAS which is like 26-29%. This isn’t like comparing Harvard to SUNY Potsdam here.

I never said Stern and CAS lib arts are similar.

And quite frankly, your credibility is nil – you haven’t spend a day at NYU yet as a student. Stern students aren’t the only ones who turn down top schools to attend NYU. Honestly, most NYU students, including Sternies, are rejected from the same schools lol…

Well, in that one brochure NYU sent, a CAS student was going to be a Rhodes scholar. I think that indicates some pretty bright people are there. Of course, it’s also not fair to generalize from one person.

I turned down UC Berkeley for Stern but I would not turn down UC Berkeley for NYU CAS

I turned down UChicago and Cornell for Stern. Hey, go for what you are interested in.

Penn is the only ivy league with finance-> everybody wants to go there, then next to it is Stern.
there are so many other good schools with econs (Ivies and chicago) than NYU CAS. PPl wont hesitate to turn down CAS for other good econs and maths courses

^Let’s not forget that CAS Econ is Top 10-15. Math is too (Applied is #1).
