I think its more like, 20% asian, 10% black, 10% hispanic, 1% native american, 60% white. Its kinda interesting that where i live all the valedictorians are asians, so it really looks like they get screwed in the admissions process.

actually there is only 19% asians. According to your %s, it would add up to 101. xp

Given your URM status, I think it may factor into UCB/UCLA's desire to increase diversity. Your prospects are solid anyway, though they go up considerably if your SAT scores are improved. As well, the comprehensive review process for admissions will factor personal circumstances in which you have demonstrated strong perseverance to overcome any socio/economic adversity. I would encourage you to to prep for your SAT I in October. For November, I would not retake the Math IIC 9780). Focus on the other 2 Subject Tests, and you should be fine.

For the other schools, a lot just depends on how you project yourself and your prospects for succeeding academically in your essays. Good luck!

People from my school got into UCLA (25/120 to be exact) and a lot of them had relativly low GPAs and test scores, but I dont think any of them had below a 3.4. Just my 2 cents.

Ummm...Atherton is one of the most privileged cities in the nation....

^^Agreed (10 char)

My friends had UW GPAs under 3.5 and got into Berkeley. The GPA of course depends on the school, mine has grade delfation, so it really depends on the school.

UCLA just had its lowest enrollment of incoming African American freshmen ever if I remember correctly, so they are probably going to be pressured into accepting more, so that helps the OP get into LA.

Can the UC's actually see your race, though? Wouldn't it ensure no affirmative action if they couldn't?

Good question.
