Chances for UIC and Loyola

Hi
I am a senior at HS and I applied to UIC and Loyola with 23 ACT composite score and overall 4.7 GPA currently out of 5.0. I have preety good scores in math and science but i have low scores in english, espacially reading section in which I only got 18 and it affected my composite score dramatically. The reason for these low scores is that I immigrated to US only little over 2 years ago from India. I managed to bounce up my GPA but because of work, I have no extracurricular activities at all. UIC doesnt ask for those but when I was applying to loyola, i was shocked to see an entire section about extracurriculars.

I am applying for Pre med programs and bio-releted majors in both since i want to become a surgeon.

Is there any chance I will be accepted in any of these??

P.S. If you know any other good colleges i have good chance of getting into and which are good for premed programs, please guide me.

Thank You for taking your time reading this post.

At UIC, pre-med is not a degree granting program. It is just an advising track. It will be LAS who will determine your acceptance. Your GPA/ACT is good for UIC. You should be accepted.
Both schools have med schools.

Thanks. However, my concern is that I have no extracurricular activities at all and I do not want to leave the place for extracurriculars in application for loyola blank. any sugessions??

Hi, I’m 15 years old and am currently a junior. I have a 3.5 gpa and took the ACT for practice/just to see how it’d go with no prep in December and got a 25 :((( I am retaking it again and hope to get a 28-30 hopefully! I am Junior Class President, heavily involved in Student Council, Part of NHS-going to be an officer next year, actively involved in Key Club and voleenteer countless hours. I am also an active voleenteer in my church. I was selected for leadership in my states’s conference. I have taken challenging classes my whole high school career and took 2 AP Classes this year and am taken 4 next year. I also job shadow my dentist. I want to be a dentist or an oral surgeon and am applying for UIC this June early admission. Do you think I can get in with my current stats? I am praying so because it is the only school that tuition is reasonable and yet offers a strong medical field. I have also been on varsity tennis for 3 years and varsity track for 3 years. I hope to appear well rounded. Thank you for reading this and taking the time to answer, I appreciate it very much as I come from a middle-class family and do not have many options for college due to my low gpa and only a couple schools offer pre-dental in Illinois and their tuition is well out of my range. Thanks once again!

Incredible-- you should be in at Illinois-Chicago.
Roxi-- push that ACT score above 30 and you’ll probably be accepted.

Good luck to both of you! Chance me back please? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1118399-chance-theatre-acting-inclined-junior-ill-chance-you-back.html

What if I can’t push it above 30!?! :((((((

I am currently a junior in high school and my GPA is less than desirable. I have a 2.3 unweighted and a 2.8 weighted. I am taking several online classes on, hopefully, boost my GPA up to a 2.5 unweighted by the beginning of my senior year. I took one SAT and received a 1450/2400 and I am scheduled to take another next month. Is there any chance I will be accepted to University of South Florida, University of Central Florida, Florida Gulf Coast University, and/or University of Tampa? If not, what Florida schools would be more in my reach. Thank you!
