chances for uva, vanderbilt, berkeley, michigan, etc!!!

<p>hey guys, i am a white male from PA (junior) and am starting to think about colleges and where i can get into next year. any thoughts would be appreciated!!</p>

<p>-SAT: 2070
-CR: 680
-W: 720
-M: 670
*this was my first time taking the SAT in december without any prep. i am now enrolled in a prep course and will take it again in march, so my score will definitely go up
-i haven't taken any SAT IIs yet, but will take probably at least world hist. in may</p>

<p>-GPA: 3.8 UW, 4.4 W
-taking all honors and ap classes (i am also in an advanced program at my school)
-ap tests: us gov't (5), us history (4), taking ap lang, world, and physics this year</p>

<p>ECs:
-assist. editor of the yearbook, will be editor-in-chief next year
-member of best buddies, key club, environmental club
-part of the local court in my county for kids under 18 and act as a juror
-in NHS and SHS
-also do a lot of volunteering at my community, especially at the homeless shelter (6 hrs/week) and i have about 400 hrs of volunteering overall</p>

<p>i am thinking about applying to uva, vanderbilt, berkeley, michigan, wisconsin, penn state (probably schreyer too), maryland, unc, syracuse, upenn, william & mary....</p>

<p>what do you guys think about these schools for me? (matches, reaches, safeties)?
i appreciate any feedback, thanks!!!</p>

<p>Your SAT score is pretty good, but you will be in way better chance for most of these schools if you can raise it. Your course schedule looks pretty rigorous and your GPA isn’t too bad either. None of your EC’s stand out a ton on their own, but if you elaborate on them and how they have impacted you, they will work in your advantage.</p>

<p>you need a higher SAT score for sure, what’s your ranking btw?
i’d say vandy, upenn, and uc berkley are reaches</p>

<p>although my school doesn’t rank, it’s probably around the top 10 or 15 percent…not exactly sure since my school is so competitive</p>

<p>You have good grades, so if possible work hard on that SAT score. Right now you are at 1350/1600, so if you could raise your CR + M score by 50 points to get to 1400/1600 it’ll be a big difference.</p>

<p>thanks…but you don’t think any of my choices are safeties? all either reaches or matches? any other suggestions of schools that i should look into?</p>

<p>If you’re open to attending a liberal arts school, definitely consider Rhodes College in Memphis, TN.</p>
