Chances for Wharton ED?

Hi everyone, here is my info:

I am white and male.
I attend a fairly competitive Catholic school with the IB program.

GPA: 5.43/5.5 W.
If I calculated my unweighted GPA without distinguishing between As and A+s, I would have 4.0. If you did take A+s into account, it would be very SLIGHTLY lower.

A+ = 97-100
A = 93-96

9th Grade:
All honors wherever possible, 5 A+s and 2 As

10th Grade:
All honors wherever possible, 7 A+s

11th Grade:
Full IB (English HL, History HL, Spanish SL, Biology HL, Economics SL, Math Studies SL yeah I know its a joke but it's the highest course my school has for juniors and I got 100% and a 7 on the IB exam, also Religion and TOK), 8 A+s

12th Grade:
Full IB with two IB SL's done (English HL, History HL, Biology HL, Spanish SL, AP Calculus AB, Honors Physics, Religion, TOK), 7 A+s and 1 A through 1st qtr

So basically I have gotten all A+s in all my classes with the exception of two As my freshman year and an A first quarter senior year.

SAT: 2340 (800 CR, 740 M, 800 W)
SAT Subject Tests: 750 Math Level 2, 780 Biology M, 750 Math Level 1

ECs
Founder and President of Economics Club

Leadership in the Business World program at Wharton - won 1st place in business plan competition

Varsity Lacrosse

Varsity Golf

Vice President of National Honor Society

Co-Editor and Economics Writer - my school's Journal of World Affairs

SADD Club

Community Service:

Mission Trip to repair a roof in Kentucky for a week

Volunteered at local hospital for two summers

Soup kitchen volunteer

Various activities with my church youth group

Helped disabled children play baseball

Awards/Honors

National Merit Semifinalist

Attended science honors institute in my area

National Honor Society

17 A+ Awards in my school

Who's Who Modern Language Association Award from my state

I would appreciate any responses. I love Wharton and would be thrilled to go there!

You have good objective stats, namely grades and SAT. LBW is good, it shows genuine interest. Sports are good, but there is nothing special about an Econ club or SADD, etc. Your community service is rather run-of-the-mill. Overall, I think you have solid chances because you’ve shown a seemingly genuine interest in business. Your strong point is the objective, and the weak point is that most of your ECs seem commonplace. I think with a strong essay, you could budge your way in.
*This is solely my opinion.

Thanks for the feedback. I agree with you that my stats are pretty good with the exception of the math 2 score but my ecs aren’t really exceptional.

Varsity Lacrosse – Wall Street LOVES Lacross players [Wall Street’s Lacrosse Mafia - Businessweek](<a href=“Bloomberg - Are you a robot?”>Bloomberg - Are you a robot?)
Varsity Golf – Never hurts in business

Your stats are fine except for the SAT II Math as you have already mentioned. But a 750 is not a problem, it just won’t distinguish you from others as powerfully. For business it is fine. For engineering it is a bit low but still OK.

You have a good chance for Wharton ED but it is a reach for everyone. So, apply to at least 10 schools with reaches, matches and safetys.

you’re fine…just apply

The lacrosse article was very interesting. I am certainly applying to safeties and matches but Wharton is definitely my top choice!

I think you look like a strong candidate. Write a really good essay and Wharton would be somewhat of a high match.

However, as others said, apply for more schools.
