My full list is Yale, Notre Dame, Wash U, UVa, Tulane, and UIUC. Chance me for them?

Me:
-White male, rising senior at a competitive/respected Catholic college prep in Chicago.
-34 composite ACT (34 English, 35 Math, 34 Reading, 32 Science, 10 writing)
-3.87ish UW GPA, 4.03 W, school does not rank
-Will graduate with 6 APs (APUSH, Euro, Comparative government and politics, Physics, Spanish language, and AB Calculus)
-ECs: President of Spanish Honors Society, Secretary of National Honors Society, Model United Nations, Track and Field (2 years, 1 varsity), Senior Mentor to incoming freshmen in the fall (40% acceptance rate in school), maybe a couple other clubs here and there
-Service: nursing home, soup kitchen, historic home museum volunteer
-Summers: Exchange student to Chile 2011, Notre Dame Career Discovery in Architecture 2012, perhaps a job later this summer (wish me luck)

Yale is Yale, so probably not (but that is the case for everybody). That being said your GPA/ACT are strong so I would apply if I where you. Notre Dame and Wash U you should be fine.

The only concern I see is that your weighted GPA is low (in relation to your unweighted GPA) which implies you did not take a lot of honors/AP classes. If this is because you school does not offer many you should be fine, if you did not challenge yourself/could have taken more honors/AP classes it might be an issue.

I think you’re a good match for all of those schools, except for Yale. Your ACT is definitely good enough. I agree with the above poster about your weighted GPA. For a competitive prep school, I would expect a variety of honours and AP courses. Perhaps I’m just making assumptions and you are actually taking the hardest courses offered. Regardless, its important to show that you’re willing to go that extra step to learn more and take challenges through hard courses. At least you did that in your summer activities, so that’s good. (oU<)~*

Everything seems like it’s setting you on the right path, so good luck with those universities! (or maybe I should say colleges; argh the states are so confusing to a Canadian @^@) And good luck with the job LOL

Marmion Academy huh? (from Chicago area too)
Match for all except for Yale however you are a competitive applicant.
ECs aren’t bad, but I would like to know what program you did your Chile exchange program with.
Courseload is solid and you got your AP scores to back that up (right?)
Good luck with everything and write some kickass essays!

Hey thanks y’all for chancing me. I agree Yale is a stretch, but yolo. As a matter of fact, I took the hardest courses I could take (7 APs total), and I calculated that unweighted GPA on my own so it might not be super duper accurate, as my school only reports weighted.

I do not go to Marmion Academy, but nice try! My Chile exchange was through my school which was nice because it did not cost $8 million like most other study abroad programs. 'Twas just airfare!
