Chances From CC to prestigious school

Hi, since I got rejections letters from UC Davis and UCSB it has been a rude awakening for me.

Male
Asian/ Chinese
Top HS in California very competitive 99% of students go on to college
GPA: 3.0 at best
ACT: 24

It's not that I'm not bright. I scored 125 on an IQ test, It's just that I'm lazy and doesn't really pay attention in class and now I'm paying for it. I see that the chances of me going to college right now is slim, so I'm trying to plan ahead. If I had to rate myself on a scale of 100 on my effort, I will probably rate myself 20.

Reason I'm really trying to get into Ivies is because in the real world, school reputation means a lot and if i get into a good school, it's easier for me to find a job. Reason behind was because of my father, a USC business school grad, was Head of Asia Market trading for HSBC got laid of during the economic crisis in the 90s and ever since he's been stressing me about going to a good school. I think it might have back fired on him.

I'm planning on going to Pasadena City College next year and it's got one of the highest transfer rates to UCLA in California (third I think). And I already know that you have to take accredited courses that transfer out to different schools.

I read it in a website that ivy league admissions officers stereotype Asians, well I'm not the typical Asian. I'm very sporty (football and basketball in HS) and very artistic but not exceptional at math and sciences compared to other Asians.

I'm looking at a Business or Architecture major

p.s. I'm trying to get through Community College as fast as I can.

can somebody please give me some pointers for example:

AP tests

Extra Curricular activities (like clubs, sports)

tips on getting rid of laziness haha

transfer rates (which ives, or other prestigious school transfer rates)

How realistic the goal is (I will work my butt off the next two yrs)

Future possible personal essay topic (Very International person, born in L.A. lived in Hong Kong for 14 yrs went to an international school there, finished 4yrs of HS in states.)

please anything helps

Ivy League schools have extremely low transfer rates. Token numbers only in fact.

Yale has 4 to 5 percent, and those people accepted are usually from very selective universities with incredible credentials. Harvard doesn't even accept transfers now.

Look... it doesn't really matter where you go to school, as long as you have the drive and ambition to back you up. I'd look into a nice UC school as a more realistic option, and work your butt off in community college. Once again, everything is up to you... but transferring to Ivy Leagues is a very difficult and unrealistic option.

What Gryffon says is true, but on the other hand, if you're willing to work your butt off, UCLA and Berkeley should be no problem. Few states offer their residents the second chance CA does.

So who knows, an ivy could happen, but if you work hard a UC is highly likely.

You could always go to a UC for undergrad and a Ivy for grad school....
