And what do you plan to major in?

Your stats doesn't seem College of Engineering material, but I think it's a match for all else. They probably won't like how you only took 4 classes your senior year.

actually, each college class counts as two semesters, even though it is only one semester long. So, since I am taking four college classes my senior year, 2 first semester and 2 second semester, it counts as eight, plus the two I am taking at my high school that each last for a year.

thats the stupidest thing ive ever heard

Just for kicks sake, do you plan on rowing at Cal?

LOL

Man, you guys are cruel.

Each college class does not count as two semesters. It counts as one. I hope you didn't put that on your application, come verification day there could be problems.

And UC GPA is capped buddy. You would have to take 4 or fewer classes in both 10th and 11th grade with all A's and at least 8 weighted points. I don't know if this is possible while also matching the required amount of credits.

what is this 8 caps rule that Berkeley uses to weight grades? have they applied this GPA method for 2009's class?

Yes.

UC GPA has 8 semesters of 5.0 point classes as a max because of the unfairness of those who are not able to take as many AP Classes.

Of course, the course rigor the students go through is also considered.

so then is the class of 2009's average 4.25 W GPA under the 8 caps lock. Or is this the first year they're using the system?

omg, then all those college/AP classes i've taken were in vain. this is really unfair.

I had never heard of The Congressional Award before. Here is the official website. Do adcoms actually consider this a prestigious activity?
http://www.congressionalaward.org/congress/about/about_who.htm

Actually, college classes do count as two semesters when you're in high school--at least they did for Class of 2009.

College classes taken concurrently in high school count for a year's worth of credit.

I took 2 American history courses at a community college and it counted for two years worth of history. I took World Politics course at UCLA as a rising senior and was awarded a year's credit for that. I took American lit at UCLA and was also awarded a year's credit.

The reason lies in the unit conversion for college classes to high school classes. For example, at my high school, 1 college unit equal 3.3 high school credits. So for example, my 3 unit community college class came out to be roughly 10 high school credits (5 high school credits at my school counted for 1 semester high school class).

Students in the past used to take 1 semester of Art History at community college to fulfill the 1 year requirement of fine arts.

So evans will be okay when it comes to transcript check.

Gospy:
UCBUCB:

Each college class DOES count as two semesters. according to my transcript, my advisor, and Berkeley. I called the admissions office just to check this out. YOu better check your sources before you go off on someone!!

Berkeley considers the Congressional Award to be prestigious, so does Harvard and Stanford, I called the admissions office to see if it was worth putting on the app

It represents a year long class, however it is a semester long. If you try to transfer a 5.0 unit class to Berekely that you got an A in, you will get just that, 5.0 units. You don't get 10.0 units. Thus, it is one semester long. You do not get 2 A's toward your GPA for getting an A in one semester long college class. That's why on the application when you "CL" for class type, it locks into one semester. You can only enter grades for one semester or put "In progres/Planned" for one semester.

That is what I said. I said that each college class gives my double the amount of credit in my high school. So if I take Spanish103, for one semester, it gives two semester worth of credit at my high school,

Evan: Don't bother.

To All:

For clarity, because it can be difficult for some people to understand (Q.E.D.), UC's will count 1 semester college classes taken during high school as 1 high school year of completion to fulfill the A-G requirements.

However, in terms of receiving actual credit at the university, it will of course count for 1 semester.

In addition, when applying to the UC using their online application, you find your college and add it. Then you add the individual classes you took, when you took them, and the grade your earned (or if it's in progress). The university perfectly understands that these courses count for 1 year of high school coursework.

And to clarify my previous statements, I received a year of high school credit, but in terms of university credit, it was at face value.

Seriously, Evan.... do you plan on Rowing at Cal? I'm asking because if I get in I plan on doing so.
