Chances of Acceptance? Suggestions?

Wow haha i know that this is kind of irrational, and that Stanford is pretty much always a reach school, but i saw people doing these and figured why not, you know? Here it goes:

Test Scores
2370 SAT (old one cuz im old school)
800 SAT II Math II
800 SAT II Biology E
800 SAT II Chemistry
AP Computer Science 5
AP World 5
AP US 5
AP Stat 5
AP English Language and Composition 5
This year I am also taking AP Spanish, AP Calculus BC, and AP Physics C. Unfortunately, I was not able to take AP English Language and Composition, because it didn’t fit into my schedule :frowning:

My GPA is a 4.525 on my school’s system, but for the Common App (and most other applications) it translates to a 4.0, unweighted

Activities
Piano- I am a 5 time American Fine Arts Festival Competition winner and have A+ ratings on level 6 NYSSMA for 6 years
Trombone- I play in my high school’s jazz band as first chair and have A+ ratings on level 6 NYSSMA for 4 years
Academic Challenge- I am the captain of my school’s quizbowl/academic challenge team
Peer Tutor- I tutor a wide variety of subjects as part of my school’s peer tutoring club, from math to English. If I got paid for this, it would be a job/work experience, but as is, it is, alas, only a club
Math Club- I only joined last year but it’s a lot of fun and I wish I had joined sooner
Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society member
Computer Science TA- I am a teacher’s assistant for the AP Computer Science class, and I help teach material and hold office hours after school

Community Service
I make beaded crafts and origami cranes for the Arc of Westchester, a local organization that helps those born with developmental disabilities and their families. My crafts are sold to help fundraise for some of their programs.

Honors
Harvard Book Award
Bausch and Lomb Scholarship Award from Rochester
National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist
WESEF 3rd place engineering category

The real jewel of my college application crown is that I have research experience in engineering, as I have independently created an Electronic Navigational Aid for the blind in my basement. I have written up a research paper for this and will be submitting it for competitions such as Siemens and Regeneron STS, as well as as a research supplement. I’ve already submitted the half-finished project to WESEF (as seen above), and am looking to improve this year. Would this bolster my chances?

I am an Asian girl senior looking to go into either computer science or engineering.

Like I said, I know this is a reach school, I’m mostly looking for ways I can bolster my application. If anyone has any suggestions, let me know! Thanks so much!

As for everyone, reach.

thanks anyway, my guy (not sarcastic, genuinely thankful)

What no all-state in a sport? Just Kidding!! You have all the right stats. Just need to present yourself unique through your essays and you have a great shot.

unfortunately, i have all left feet. this is worse than two left feet, because it means my hands are also feet and cannot catch the sports balls. thanks for your reply though! much appreciated.

Bumping this up my guy

You are so musically talented. Congrats!!! 5 times American Fine Arts Festival Competition winner. Is it international level? Is the winners’ recital at Carnegie Hall? You should submit arts portfolio with your application.

That’s the one! And thank you so much! I am actually submitting an arts portfolio, but I have to re-vamp a few songs to do it, plus it’s due a little earlier so it’s a bit high-stress.

Wow!!! How many times have you performed at Carnegie Hall? It must be very fantastic experience.
I learned piano; I wish I were that talented.

5 times, haha. It’s only the little hall (Weill Recital Hall), they hold a couple recitals a year. It’s really great though. I’m sure you can pick it back up! It’s never too late to learn

Badump bump bump

Thank you for your good words. You are so humble. I quit piano at my sophomore year. I can’t manage the time well.

So you will have to submit by 15th with arts portfolios. May I have the link if you use YouTube? I have never heard someone been to Carnegie 5 times. I am so interested in watching a Carnegie Pianist performance. Thanks.

I’ve never really posted anything on YouTube, but if I do post it, I can certainly let you know!
Time management is always such a struggle. I feel you.

bump it!!

I cant attest if u will get into Stanford or not, but just from what you’ve shown of your personality I truly hope u get in (you have all the right stats and accomplishments, so it really boils down to ur essays, recd, and luck). Stanford really needs people who r humble and chill like you, seriously you would make Stanford such a wonderful place and I think that’s what getting in is all about.

Wow, thanks! That’s honestly the nicest thing anyone’s ever said to me. Thanks again, keeping my fingers crossed!

Unfortunately it may be difficult for you since there are a lot of applicants with similar credentials

I hope you get in (great app). If you do/do not please tell us in the discussion threads!

What state? NY?

Looks like you are from Westchester, NY. Many good schools and strong students from the area… Obviously your stats are competitive. It could depend on who else applies from your school and area.
