<p>Hello, My name is Shanice Barry
and I am an african american female who is seeking admission into James Madison University. I am also a first generation college student, and I sadly come from a low income family. </p>
<p>My current GPA is a 3.3 weighted.
SAT scores: 1380/2400
Comined Math and reading 960
ACT Composite- 20.
I have no Idea why my test scores are so low, I wish I could have taken prep classes but unfortunately It's outside of my budget. I guess I'm not the best test taker, and I hope that they see past that and read why I'm such an asset to their university. </p>
<p>Currently I am enrolled at a local Virginia high school in Prince William county, and JMU is a popular comidty at my high school.
My Gpa is as follows:</p>
<p>Freshman year:
2.7 (under a challanging grading scale in Fairfax county public schools)
I didn't fail any classes however, unfortunately I didn't recieve any A's
It was a tough year for me, because my mother was diagonsed with cervical cancer and I explained in my essay why my freshman year was not as strong as it should have been.</p>
<p>Sophmore year:
3.6 (weighted)
3.5 (unweighted)
I was enrolled in Pre-Ap English, and AP Euro.</p>
<p>Junior year:
3.8 (weighted)
3.5 (unweighted)
I was enrolled in AP US, and AP Lang.</p>
<p>Senior year: (thus far)
over a 4.0
I take AP Lit, Adv. Math/trig, AP Psych, Multi media IT (I go to an IT specialty school), AP Gov, AP Chem, AP Chem Lab.
So far I'm doing fairly well in my classes and maintaining As and Bs</p>
<p>My transcript rounds my GPA to about a 3.3 (w/o senior year) weighted.</p>
<p>I am involved in multiple organizations. I think It's actually too many to list.
Freshman yr.
Secretary for FBLA, member of key club, french club.</p>
<p>Sophmore year.
Graphic designer for Journalism, IT program, Manager for Varsity Lax, Key Club, French club, Sca volunteer, Keen sports Va, Potomac hospital. Weekend JOB at TGI Fridays, Relay for life</p>
<p>Junior year:
Youth Salute (due to all my extracuricular activites) Key club, Sca volunteer, Keen Sports Va, French club, Volunteer at Potomac hospital, relay for life, breakfast with santa, and during summmer volunteer at dentist office. TGI Fridays weekend shifts. </p>
<p>Senior year:
America's club, Key club, french club, SCA secretary, Chemistry honors society secretary, Relay for life, breakfast with santa. Volunteer all the activites above, and continue to maintain weekend shifts at TGI Fridays. Youth Group at my best friends church.</p>
<p>Also I have recieved multiple honors such as Journalist of the month, Youth Salute, Academic letters years 10,11 and honor roll, varsity letter, Microsoft certification, and letters from my principal. </p>

I am also getting my letter of reccomendation from my Principal and he's a JMU alumni.
Lots of students get accepted into Jmu at my school and hopeful I'll be amongst the people to recieve an acceptance letter.</p>
