Chances of being reinstated?

I was academically dismissed from UMD after receiving all F’s for 3 semesters. I was depressed at the time and didn’t leave my room. I left with a 1.314 GPA.

I submitted my reinstatement application last week, but I am very nervous because it will take me around 50 credits with good grades to bring my GPA up to a 2.0 and I know that the Student Success Office takes that into consideration.

After being dismissed, I took an MBTI and changed my course of study to Computer Science (formerly public health at UMD). At community college, I earned a 4.0 (for 5 classes) my first semester and a 3.47 (2 A’s and 1 B minus) my second semester all in computer science courses. I really enjoy coding and would love to pursue it.

Do you think I have more of a high or low chance of being reinstated? I haven’t been able to eat because I am so nervous. I find out the official decision around the end of May.

I would honestly be more concern about your health than your chances of being admitted into UMD.

I would consider a different 4 year university. It is going to be difficult to bring your GPA up at MD. If you go to a different school your GPA starts fresh.

You will probably need at least a 3.0 GPA to be competitive when applying to an internship, job or grad school. A 2.0 is not ideal. Honestly, going back to MD will not help you in the long run. MD for grad school could be an option.
