Chances of getting in to Stanford as a Hispanic female

I recently applied to Stanford with a 2120 SAT, 4.6 GPA, and noted in my admissions essays how I plan to major in biology due to observing the effects that Lupus had on my mother’s life (when she was diagnosed). In the essay, I explained how her reluctance to succumbing to her harsh symptoms led me to believe that I should always try my best in spite of any hardships. In my short essay question, for the prompt “what matters most to you”, I wrote about my desire to become successful, while preserving my hispanic heritage. Throughout my application, I made it evident that I wanted to challenge the status quo and become all that I dreamed to be. I am the president of National Honors Society, president of Spanish Club, vice-president of French Club, member of California Scholarship Federation, and a member of the Future Teachers’ Club. I also work as a math tutor (hired by the school district) to help kids of different math levels. Every summer, I go to Guadalajara, Mexico with my cousin (who is a doctor), and help out in the hospital. I believe this makes it apparent that I am clear of my ultimate career goal but am connected to my culture. I also have community service hours as a babysitter and a tutor for jr.high school band students (I have been in marching band all 4 years and play the flute). Do you think I have a good chance of admission into Stanford?

Other than stating you are qualified, Stanford is a Reach for every applicant and impossible to give you an idea of your chances. Your SAT is a bit low which may hurt your chances. I wish you good luck.

I wish you good luck! I am also a Hispanic female and my SATs were a bit lower, but I think I have strong extra-curriculars/ leadership experience. My essays were strong, although I wish I would have submitted them last, because they got better as I went on with my other applications. Have you gotten an interview? Also, what state are you applying from?

I have not gotten an interview… I am from Southern California and I read an article that they do not do interviews from people in my area! Have you/ what state are you from? I wish you good luck too! I’m really nervous about getting accepted :O!
