Chances of getting into Chicago schools? Depaul/Loyola/UIC

Hello,

I have attended a college prep high school the last 4 years and I, like many others, took this amazing opportunity for granted. I have an unweighted gpa of around 3.11 and an ACT score of 24. My progress report that will also be sent with my Early Action application to these schools is currently at a 4.0 because I've been trying this year. I have taken 5 AP's and done decently on the exams. By the time I graduate I will of done 4 years of Varsity Track/Field and Swimming with 3 years of JV Soccer and a year of Varsity. I have 600-700 hours of community service in the last 4 years and at the same time I opened and now run my own profitable photography company. I'm part of the yearbook crew and am greatly involved in the school community. I have 3 very solid teacher recommendations as well. Do my extracurricular activities make up for where my grades lacked? I want an honest answer.

Thank you!

First bump.

UIC is a gimme.

While I can’t guarantee your admissions to DePaul and Loyola, I would be pretty optimistic about it. Are you taking the ACT one last time, or are you done?

Your ECs are good. So all you need now is to write a great essay.

My biggest advice is to stay positive throughout this process.

Thanks for the reply! I’ve got 2 solid essays edited by heads of the English department here and I just took the ACT. Sending those scores in blind since they didn’t seem to get released today for me, but I felt really good on it this time around.

Second and final bump
