Hello everyone. I’m considering applying ED2 to Grinnell but am unsure what my chances would be. I know my stats are a little below average in some aspects, but I’m not sure what my chances would be.
My stats are:
Act: 31 (superscore) 30 (highest composite)
Average GPA: 95.6/100 weighted or around a 4.0 (my school doesn’t use this scale so I kind of have to estimate)
My school doesn’t do class rank and doesn’t report it.
I’m taking multiple AP’s and college level / honors courses.
I visited over the summer and had an interview a couple weeks ago and it seems like it went really well.
Good extracurriculars, I do multiple sports and am a part of several clubs (and the president of one).
Of course, nobodoy can be sure about what my chances are but if anyone has any insight I would greatly appreciate it. I can give more details if anyone would like. Thanks for any responses!
I’m not planning on taking it again since I’ve taken it several times and it has only gone up a little bit. I don’t think taking it again after not being able to prepare for the test since I’m too low on time would do much.
I think you have good chance. I applied with ED2 as well, my SAT score wasn’t very high and my gpa was around a 3.8. I also did an interview. It is all about the extra curricular activities, essay, and interview. I wish you luck with your applications! Grinnell is an awesome school, definitely a good choice!
Thanks! Grinnell is my top choice for sure. I actually did two interviews (one while visiting campus and one closer to home in NYC) and as far as I know, they both went really well and I don’t think it could’ve gone much better. The person who interviewed me actually remembered me when I visited a couple months before and said she remembered me since I was “the only person who looked happy to be there.”
Yeah, I know that that doesn’t actually mean anything but I think it is an indicator that the interview went well. My extracurriculars are also pretty strong I think and I know some of my stats, like my ACT, aren’t entirely up to the standards of most other applicants, but I’m hoping I can still get in.
Good luck! It’s also helpful to emphasize a focus within your extracurriculars. You didn’t provide specifics but hopefully you can focus in on a interest you are very passionate about
