Chances of getting into Harvard?

I am actually just lamming on taking the following AP exams junior year: calc ab, us history, English lit/comp, microecon, and macroecon. And senior year I will take the following AP exams: calc bc and stats.

Should I apply to Harvard or Princeton Early Decision based on my updated resume?

Should you apply to Harvard or Princeton Early Action, based on your updated resume?

To base where you should apply on your resume is very wrong-headed of you. You should apply to whichever you like better. Or Yale or Stanford. The applications that have a strong chance at one school probably all have a strong chance at the other three, and one that one would definitely reject aren’t going to have an easy time at the others. So, which do you like best?

Princeton, it’s been my dream school FOREVER…I am definitely applying there early!! How is my resume in that case for early admission for Princeton?

Haha well that’s easy for you to decide! Once people’s resumes get past “above average,” I stop chancing more specifically; you’re at least a little bit above average. And however your resume looks for Princeton, it probably looks about the same for Harvard, Yale, Stanford. They have similar admissions standards. (Although, re-reading it, query: why transfer high schools? What can you accomplish at one of those schools, as a new student, more than you would be able to do at a school where you’ve accumulated leadership and friends? Do you not like your fellow students? What does your guidance counselor think?)

Thanks for the compliments, but yeah at my school they don’t have connections in the Ivy League so I was hoping if I transfer to Phillips Exeter Academy being the prestigious boarding school that it is would help me out through their connections. Also they only accept one person from every graduation class at my high school to go to Harvard. Whereas at Exeter like 20 or more go to Harvard each year. But which ivy league would you say is worth applying Early Decision for in your opinion after viewing my resume? I want to major in Economics.

First, I don’t think that Exeter or Andover get students in because they have “connections”. They get students in because the students they accept are already very strong. The people that I know who have transferred to Exeter have done so because of the opportunity, but they were already very likely to get into Harvard/Princeton. Second, senior year seems a bit late - your report and recommendations will be from teachers who barely know you.

Ok so you are just saying indirectly that I am not a strong candidate at all?

I said no such thing. Don’t be paranoid.

Ok, well how does my resume look if I were to apply for early decision to Harvard…I know I haven’t finished Junior or Senior Year yet or taken the SAT/SAT Subject tests but how is it?

I’m sorry, I thought we were having an interesting conversation. But it just got boring.

Wait what???
