I’m really hoping to get into Purdue’s main campus, and I’m applying after my gap year. I went to a pretty small high school with fairly limited opportunities (few advanced classes, no clubs, not too many sports)
About me:
-White male, but my family is pretty poor
-Pretty good recommendations-- small school = personal connections with teachers
-Took all but one of my schools advanced classes (AP Gov, AP English Lang/Comp, AP English Lit and Comp, Dual Credit Psych, Dual Credit US history) Just didn’t take Chemistry
-Took a few AP tests on their own since so few were offered at my school (shows initiative?)
-3.4 GPA with minimal upward trend until senior year. (got all A’s and A-'s that year) Lacked motivation through most of high school, hand trouble adjusting. Not a great excuse though.
-Good Essay, pretty strong personal statement IMO
-1400 New SAT
-Took Gap year to help people by volunteering in Alaska
-Did fairly well in track senior year (school brought back program my junior year, but I put a lot of work into it during my senior year and accomplished some things even though I’m not exactly a star athlete
I know it’s not a great profile but any help would be appreciated
