Background: I have a tremendous amount of leadership roles…

-I am a squad leader in my JROTC division as well as the division MAA.
-I instruct my own personal martial arts school out of a studio built in my back yard (martial arts has been a huge part of my life, I am a third degree black belt).
-I am the captain of my high school varsity baseball team.
-Every summer I volunteer as a lead camp consoler for a camp for children who have lost a loved one.
-Each year I organize a donation drive for my local VA hospital.
-I volunteer at a local camp for younger kids entering elementary school each summer.
-Member of the National Honor Society, Science Honor Society, and Foreign Language Honor Society.

I am very anxious about getting into Stony Brook… For me it is one of the best paths for the career path I am looking to get involved in. I am applying for a health science undergrad and eventually I want to become a physicians assistant. I have been told that their admissions process has been getting more and more selective each year, and with an admission rate of about 40%, you can see where I am coming from.

Any and all feedback is appreciated. Thank you. (And I am open to answering any questions that may assist in your opinion.)

maybe but your SAT score is a bit below the average really. but even still you’re an excellent student.

Thank you, more feedback from others would be appreciated.

reach SAT is a bit low. I take it you are a senior. did you try applying to other schools like suny geneseo or Cuny hunter

talk to someone at admissions… I dont think Stony Brook really wants to turn away such an obviously driven person…
especially if stony is your 1st or 2nd choice

dont worry about the SATs, definitely retake if you have time (just focus… I believe everyone is capable of at least a 1900 so long as they try)

OTOH, I probably wouldnt put down health sciences as a tentative major, as as far as I know (haha, weird grammar, sorry) it is one of the more competitive fields at stony… but it probably wont make much difference anyways… Im not certain obviously… you can always declare after you;ve gotten in

Cya there!

Thank you for your response. More feedback from others is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I think rigor of coursework is going to apply here as well as your expressed interest in that particular program at SBU. EC’s are great, while GPA is slightly under par; and your class rank is decent. I say you have a decent shot.

Thank you for your response.
