Hey there, I’m a female student applying to Andover, St. Mark’s, Groton, Milton, Middlesex, Concord Academy, BUA, Nobles, and Commonwealth.
I know that’s a lot but I decided to take the challenge, and I wanted to get in somewhere lol…
I’m applying as a day student, and I was wondering about my chances of getting into these schools.
My school grades are all A’s (That’s the best we can get) and I got a 97% on the SSAT, with a 99% verbal, 89% math, and 92% reading. I’m a little concerned because of 89% in Math, but on the gender percentile it’s 92%, so I’m not sure if it’s bad or ok.
My extracurriculars as are the following: (I blocked out names for privacy)
-Science and Engineering Fair: 1st place
-National fair nominee
-Science Olympiad honorable mention
-State science olympiad state qualifier
-Varsity public forum debater
-Model UN program scholarship recipient
(I play the cello)
-First chair for 4+ years in orchestra
-Orchestra member in advanced orchestra
-Concerto Competition winner (I’m planning to submit a recording)
Other than that I run track and do taekwondo, tennis, and fencing. I’m pretty mediocre athletic wise, so it isn’t such a big deal I think.
At school, I was editor of the school newspaper, was on the math team for 3+ years, and am the current founder/ captain. Additionally, I did some drama and stuff but it was mostly for fun and wasn’t anything serious, and was also a JV quiz bowl member.
Finally, I did a fundraiser for a local animal shelter a few years back, have been volunteering at my local church for 5+ years, and have recently started volunteering at a food pantry.
I also know that interviews are important, but I think all of them were pretty successful just because of how my interviewers reacted afterwards, and the responses I got from my thank you cards.
I think school recommendations are set for me because I think I’m a good student at school + have good relationships with my teacher and principal. My personal recommendations are in, and I think it was a pretty good recommendation personally.
I’m a bit nervous but I would appreciate it if you could let me know my chances, and be honest. To be frank, I think being accepted to Andover would be an uphill battle for me.
