Chances of getting into to Princeton (Or any other Ivies)

Hey I'm a Senior in the second highest academically ranked public highschool in Minnesota. I have an unweighted GPA of 3.83 (My high school does not give out class rank but I am in the top 10%) , am a NMSF, SAT score of 2250, ACT score of 33, NHS member, Varsity soccer player 3yrs., Varsity skier 4 years, Varsity Track 2 yrs., Eagle Scout, and as a senior I will be a soccer team captain and skiing captain. I have logged about 100 hrs. of community service to date. My dad got denied to Princeton so I kind've wanted to one up him by getting in. What do you guys think my chances are. I don't want any of this long winded bullcrap about how it depends on this and that. Simply put what are my chances at Princeton or any other Ivies?

It’s hard to say. All of the stats you posted look amazing, but it is truly a shot in the dark. With good essays, you have a good chance. And by good I don’t a percentage, just that your numbers are in the top tier. I think if you apply to a few ivies you are bound to get into one of them.

Yeah everything looks great. Of course, your GPA will make things a little tougher, but I think the fact that you go to a highly ranked school and your test scores will definitely help out. As for you getting into Princeton, it could go either way. But like engineerjw said, if you apply to a few ivies you are bound to get into one of them.

Wrong ^. Just because you apply to more ivies, you won’t increase your chances. They’re not mutually exclusive. That said, I’m not so sure you’ll get in. Your stats look good, mind you, but there are so many factors to also consider.

Being an Eagle Scout is fine, but won’t add. Neither will having your sports, unless you’re recruited. Your strength is your gpa and good SATs, but since nearly everyone else who applies to Princeton has strong stats, you won’t stand out. So guess what? It comes down to your essays. What you have to work towards is why you stand out. What makes you (and the combination of talents you bring) special?

What are the odds of getting into Princeton, about 10% or less, right?

Sports do help. They are just as good as any other extracurricular, especially with leadership positions.
