Demographics: Asian male, first generation college student. Currently live in Southern California. Intended major(s): Computer science. I might do finance if CS doesn’t work out.
Academics: I am taking/have taken AP Calc BC, AP gov/econ, AP Bio, Math Analysis E. I also plan on taking an Intro to Business class offered by a local community college. I got a 4 on my AP bio exam.
ACT: 30 composite. 32 Eng, 27 Math, 29 Reading, 33 Science, 19 Writing. I plan on retaking the ACT.
SAT: 1340, 690 in Reading/Writing and 650 in math.
Class rank: 53 out of 503 (approximated)
UW/W GPA: UW: 3.9, W: 4.0
Awards: Just the normal honor roll stuff. I also got an award for being top 10% of my class
Extracurriculars: I help out at my parents store every week. I’ve done 8 hours of volunteering throughout my high school career, however I plan on doing a lot more hours this year. I also was a part of MOBA (a type of game) Club for a year, CSF (basically national honors society but just in CA) for 2 years, and National Honors Society for 2 years.
I’m mostly curious about my chances into UC Irvine and UC San Diego, so I didn’t list my other school choices. I’m also curious if there are any other schools I should consider, and currently, whether my ACT or SAT scores are better to send.
