Getting into Wharton has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. Do you think I have a good chance of getting in?
@Wharton2016 you have a good chance. your score is above the median at Penn ( 2230–class of 2018) and you GPA is high enough. The only potential issue is that your SAT math score is not as impressive, well below the Penn median (750–class of 2018). Especially wharton and seas at Penn want high math scores so this score could hurt you a bit, depending on how you do at Math ii. Otherwise your ecs and everything else looks great.
You have a decent chance. Wharton is a reach for every one. There are so many factors for admission. So nobody can really chance you. SAT Math 2 is only one factor. There is nothing you can do about it. So relax and cross your fingers.
Hate to say this, but I feel your two rather lackluster math scores could hurt you. A 730 in Math II is rather unimpressive for Penn ( and other top schools), and so is a 700 in the math section. However there is nothing you can do now about this. Just work on the other parts of your applications to make them the best they can be, and keep ur fingers crossed. Penn is a reach for anyone, and especially international students. The international student acceptance rate is 6.7%, quite lower than the overall acceptance rate of 9.9% at Penn.
@wharton2016, It is possible. many applicants got in with hooks. Development applicants (people can make large donation, or children of influential people), recruited athletics, children of faculty or alumni, URM etc.
^^^ it is not uncommon for people in the above categories to get in with these kind of stats. He even might have been an applicant with a very impressive accomplishment (like sb who created his own very successful company, charity). The chances of getting in for sb with those stats who is not in the categories mentioned above or does not have sth else seriously impressive, are extremely low.
