I have been waitlisted at Lawrenceville and I wanted to know my chances of getting off the waitlist. I am a fencer, my ssat’s were good (97 overall), I play soccer, I run cross country, and I well as swim. I got accepted into Princeton Day School and Hun. I need FA.
I think it is notoriously hard to get off the waitlist at lawrenceville as they waitlist around 400 kids and depending on the year they take between 0 and 8 people off the waitlist

First of all, congratulations on your acceptances! Princeton Day School and Hun are both great schools. As for the waitlist, I don’t think there’s much of a chance you’ll get off. I got waitlisted to 4 out of 6 schools last year and nothing came out of it; this year, I got waitlisted to 2 schools. I don’t think Lawrenceville took any students off the waitlist last year; most BS only end up taking one or two off a waitlist of 400 people. Also, the waitlist isn’t ranked so it really depends on which people they need to fill the class. For example, if a lot of athletic people turned down Lawrenceville, you might have a shot because they will need more athletic people to round out the class. However, if they’re lacking in musical/artistic acceptees, then you’re out of luck.
For now, don’t worry too much about it. Send them an email talking about why you like Lawrenceville while updating them on your achievements from the past two months. After that, put it off your mind and focus on the two schools you got accepted to. After revisit days, if you still really want to go to Lawrenceville, call a day or two before the A10 (or whatever the deadline is for those two schools) and ask them about the waitlist. They might already be full, after which you should accept Princeton or Hun. If they said they’re not full and are picking people from the waitlist, ask them when they will release those decisions and let them know that if accepted, you will go.

Thank you so much for your reply and encouragement. The lawrenceville letter indicates that they would not want me to send them any more information about my achievements since they have a fairly good picture, however I think it is a good idea to give them a call and find out about the wait list . Is there any preference I should have for Hun or PDS . TIA
