Chances of getting revoked admission?

Hi all,

I was accepted to the University of Georgia with a 4.02 wGPA and a 31 Composite on the ACT. I am planning to go this fall. Since I have been accepted early, my first semester grades have not been sent.

What I am scared about is UGA revoking my admission. My first semester grades were the following:

AP Physics C: Mec - D
AP Calculus BC - F
AP Computer Science - C
Honors English Literature - B
AP World History - A
AP Spanish - A
PE - A

During first semester, my grandfather was diagnosed with terminal colon cancer, and as a result of his declining health, it took a very heavy toll on my family. At the same time, I had to manage 7 classes. During second semester, I retook calculus, not BC, but AB and currently have an A in the course.

At this point, my second semester senior grades will not change. I have the following:

Health - A
AP Spanish - A
Honors World History - A
AP Calculus AB - A
Honors English Literature - B
AP Computer Science - B
AP Physics - D

What I am concerned about is that my admission offer will be revoked due to the excessive number of Ds and Fs. My weighted GPA after first semester is a 3.92.

Will I be rescinded?

Yes, it can. You need to email Mr. David Graves at UGA, and tell him exactly what you told us. Tell him that your grandfather was diagnosed with cancer, and that took a toll. Then, tell him your improved grades in your second semester. Just be truthful, and do this before you get a call from the admissions office…that means NOW!

Then, you’ll be okay hopefully. Every person can understand a family sickness or death. Make sure you state in your email:

  1. Your family’s condition your first semester
  2. The impact on your grades
  3. How you managed to improve second semester
  4. That you don’t have “senioritis” given how you have good grades second semester
  5. Your high GPA

----Write the email NOW, send it first thing Monday morning, by 6:00 AM, so Mr. Graves can see it first thing . . . . . - - - - - -email Mr. David Graves, and maybe CC UGA Admissions.

Please update us on what ultimately happens, its annoying to see questions that never give follow-ups.

I hope all works out. . . . .

Thanks.

For those that are curious, I did not rescinded!!! GO DAWGS

Great news. For those in a similar situation to you in future years did you contact UGA to explain the situation?
