My friend has been taking classes at a CC for about a year now here in CA but he's moving out of the state for other reasons but still wants to apply to UC's which was his original intention. Will UC's be harder on him since he is out of state or will they see that he graduated High School here in CA and took a year of CC here as well? What would he have to do? jsut finish the requirements? thanks!

btw intended UC's are UCI and UCSD for pre-med

If he's been taking high school classes here (I live in CA) and college classes here for the past 5 to 6 years or so, why would he move out of state right before applying for admittance to the UCs?

Yes, he should finish the requirements for transfers here, then apply here. If he moves out-of-state right after applying, they would probably still treat him as a California resident for purposes of tuition (which would save him about $13,000 to $14,000 per year or so over out-of-state students).

He had to move for family reasons, his whole family is moving, and he doesnt want to live alone. Would that affect the admissions if a year is out of state? I know he would still be considered a resident but maybe the classes wont matchup or something
