Chances on EA?

Hey I applied EA to Tech, I wanna save some stress from opening up mydecision.gatech.edu on Saturday by getting other people’s opinions. Chances?

GPA - 3.90 weighted (48 Grades reported on transcript: 40 A’s 8 B’s)
Class Rigor - 10 APs (comp sci, world history, lang, physics b, us history, calc ab, biology, calc bc, chemistry, macroeconomics), 5 Honors, 1 College Class

SAT - 560 reading 690 math 670 writing (reported that I will take math II and chemistry subject tests)
ACT - 30 composite 31 english 33 math 30 combined english/writing (reported that I will take ACT again)

Extracurriculars: National Beta Club, National HOSA Club, Chess Club (president), Medical Doctor Club (vice president), National American Red Cross Club (treasurer), Ultimate Frisbee Club, part-time job at a veterinarian clinic, volunteering in library

Essays - Main essay: Probably the best of my essays, I think this will set me apart from other applicants. I wrote about improving work ethic and social life after getting my job at a vet clinic. Supplementary essays: decent
Teacher Recommendation - Probably mediocre, kinda rushed my teacher near the deadline.

Background - Asian male living in suburban Atlanta in a competitive HS (~30/50 people applied last year got accepted)

Thanks!

You reported that you will take them later, but did you? Decisions are out tomorrow. Tests Scores are low, I would say it’s a low reach

@TrElite yes I took them. ACT didn’t change but my SAT Subject Tests I did well on and submitted them.
Thanks for the reply. Yeah I know my SAT is lower 50% but I’m in the middle 50% for ACT. I’m really banking on my essays to help me out.

http://www.admission.gatech.edu/life-tech/class-profile Actually it’s the 25th percentile… that’s just the range.

You never know. UMich admitted a lot of ACT 30-31, but deferred so many 32+.

Yes, his full ACT composite is at the 25% percentile, but considering they do not consider the reading or science components and considering they “super-duper score” (consider the best of either test from any date) ,they must re-combine the composites somehow. So, taking his GT superscore, (31 english, 33 math, 30 writing) he has like a 31 composite, which is well within the 50% range. The standardized tests are more like a starting point, not a decision maker. And you can see this by looking at last year’s admission thread: the scores seem somewhat random. You have people making closer to 2000 getting in and people with perfect scores being denied. TrElite, you are within the range to get it; however, it is impossible to know what your chances are. The subjective factors, which we do not see here, play a big role in the decision once you have scores, GPA, and course rigor within the 50% range (which you do).

I think his average ACT E+M (32) would be converted to SAT 1420, 30 writing would be converted to SAT 670. So his SAT score could be 2090. I hope that is how GT convert ACT scores.

^It looks like that might be how they do it, jjSr2k (using the standard concordance tables). thebootrain’s individual scores seem to fall within the 50% though (Math 33 = ~730, English/Reading 31 = ~690, English/Writing = 670), so I don’t think he should fret too much. His test scores were a bit on the lower end of the range, but his # of AP/IB/DE classes was a bit above the average, and again, we really don’t know any of the subjective stuff. For that reason, chance threads end up causing more stress than they’re worth once you’ve hit that average range. Good luck to you all! And remember, even if you don’t get in as a freshman, GT has a few great transfer programs (see: RETP). I knew some great, very successful students who transferred in for undergrad.

Thanks to everyone who replied. To compare to the rest of the applicants, I put in my stats to parchment.com and it gave me a 56% acceptance rate, so I’m crossing my fingers
