Chances on getting into Vanderbilt?

Hi all, I’m a student in the San Francisco Bay Area and I was wondering what the chances that I would be accepted at Vandy? I should graduate with between a 4.25 to a 4.35 weighted GPA. I’m in the start of 11th grade and just started studying for the ACT. I scored a 30 on the ACT without studying and hope to score between a 33 and a 35 after extensive studying. I play varsity lacrosse and work as a lifeguard. So if anyone has any experience with Vandy’s admissions, please let me know your opinion on the likelihood that I would be accepted. Thank you so much.

Grades sound good as long as your class rank is also solid. ECs sound pretty good.

Just really work that ACT; 30 is a reasonable starting score but things are pretty score sensitive here. If you can get a 33 you’ll have reasonable footing, and 34+ will definitely help. Just make sure to actually study in a structured way, like get the redbook, do all of them, go online and find the free ones that get released, do all of those. Preferably a few in the full length format all at once so you get some stamina, then some in half-length/section by section amounts. And then maybe a prep book and use anki or something to pound facts you need to know, and to record questions you missed and why. If you had spare time and like to read, you could also get the economist or just work through some high brow recreational lit to increase your reading speed/comprehension.

AP 5’s are also nice. Also, some SATIIs wouldn’t hurt, and if you haven’t already you could give the SAT a shot to see if you prefer it/can score higher on it.

SAT subject tests are optional at Vandy. Only submit if they will clearly help your application

Update: I just got my ACT score back and got a 34
