I’m wondering how much OSU takes into consideration whether or not you have visited the campus. I recently applied, but since I live over 8 hours away, I never had a chance to tour the campus.
I live a good 1,100 miles away and I was still accepted. I don’t think it has an impact, from what I understand the admissions office is accepting more OOS students than in previous years.
Google the Common Data Set for 2014 and under admissions considerations it indicates that level of interest is not considered. This may change in future years as admissions gets even more competitive but at least as of last year it was not considered. GPA, Class rank, rigor of courses and standardized test scores on ACT or SAT were considered most important. Extra-curricular activities and work experience and one letter of recommendation were considered as well but not as important as the academic and test criteria.
