*****I have been rejected from Notre Dame Early Action and Rice Early Decision.........any hope at all for Vandy????? So Worried, my CLASS RANK is bringing me down a lot..........Whats freaking me out even more is that I wasn't invited to MOSAIC WEEK AT ALL...

My daughter had literally your same stats and same courses and she's a sophomore at Vandy. My son has very similar stats, and we're pretty confident, and you should be too.

^^ Were they in the top 5 percent of their class, I heard Vandy wants their kids to be in the top 5 percent of their class...

I wasn't even invited to Mosaic week.....which has gotten me really scared...Only ranked top 20 percent...with class rank being very important to Vandy...

Thanks for the encouragement though Mirimom, I lost hope after 2 early rejections.. I am also from an overrepresented state at Vandy....

GCs can't put top 5% of the class if the school doesn't rank. They can only put top 10%.

Anyway, I think you're fine. 1500 is REALLY good. I wouldn't be scared at all. The only not great things I see is top 20% and no leadership positions in ECs (but fencing is really cool on its own). But still, I think you shouldn't worry at all.

^^ Thanks for the encouragement.

My GC didn't put me down for top 5 percent, my teachers did, for personal qualities....My counselor said that I would have been ranked top 10 percent To Valdedictorain in my letter.

I wish I could get into a school like Vandy...

Your stats are more than fine. The most important measure is your success given the quality of your course work. This is the single highest predictor of success. Your rank % should be immaterial. Of greater concern is the 19000+ applications that they are evaluating and how many people like you there are in the application pool. You have no control over that, so don't worry. Fencing and community service are clearly significant commitments.

^^^ Thanks for the encouragement, I guess I just have to wait until the 25th?....the waiting is killing me lol...

Well, they mail the 25th. It'll take a few days to reach you in Texas. I'd expect you to get it that Saturday.

^^^ Theres no way of finding out online? that sucks...

Nope. Vandy only does snail mail.

To be honest I think you will be rejected, too bad that your first two attempts at great schools failed you, maybe if you throw enough darts, one will hit the target, barely making it in the top 20% of your class is not Vandy material, but you do have some saving grace in decent test scores. I would say you have between a 20-30% chance of getting in, don't worry tho you will get in somewhere.

^^^ Yah, I know, Vandy wants kids in the top 5 percent...It also doesn't help that I am from an overrepresented state.

hah, are you kidding me? there is no reason in the world why you shouldn't get in.... if you are seriously worried about getting in with those stats I dunno why I'm even hoping... dude you should take a chill pill and realize that you're really smart and that vandy will not throw you out simply because your class is very strong. lol, i wish i had your test grades haha

Rejected -JHU, NU, Duke, Rice
Waitlisted- WashU(they waitlist everyone)
Accepted- my saftey...

Still waiting for Emory and Vandy?

I don't know, are you?

lol, my bad, I meant to say, chances for emory and vandy.....

We have, like, the same stats (mine are on a few different threads). I'm barely top 20% (roughly 17.5-18%, but we have almost 600 people in our grade) with 2230 SATs except your SAT II's are better and I am a white female from NJ. I honestly have no idea if I will get in or not (I'm leaning towards a rejection for myself since a bunch of people from my school applied) but I don't know what your school is like at all. Good luck!

(plus we both got rejected from Duke)

^^ A bunch of people from my school applied as well, all top 10 percent...and have great standarized test scores...good luck...

Haha guys. We're all on the same playing field. Though I only have a 32 ACT, I am in the top 10% of my class.

I hope we all get in!

College - Yeah, same. All top 10%. But the thing is, if a lot of them got in, they wouldn't go. If I got in, I probably would.

Hilsa - Top 10% is definitely, majjjjorly in your favor! I would be very, very surprised if you didn't get in.
