dont overplan, just relax for now...your in freaking 10th grade

Yeah, calm down a little. Be a high school student. Right now your stats are amazing. Don't burn out junior year, which is what happens to a lot of people. Continue with the great work you're doing already and don't try to do too much at once. But as of now, I'd say your chances are much better than most--probably better than some senior's chances, especially with those APs in 9th grade.

dont just work to get into college... live for yourself. when i was you age, i wanted to become an orthodontist. it didnt matter what school i went to, so i just pursued my interest, and they like most things changed. i decided i wanted to go into business, and i just got in ed to wharton.

2100 as a freshman? Jesus Christ.

haha your stats are amazing...calm down a little and just enjoy your high school life!

I've come to the conclusion that the only way to get into a good college, disregarding freak chances, is to plan in anticipation of your application, in...6th grade. My family just got my sister onto a crew team in 7th grade since getting into an Ivy based on rowing is one of the easiest paths to success. She's pretty smart so hopefully as long as she can break 1200 on her SAT's (M+V), be an average student with some AP's, and an excellent at crew by junior year, she'll have a ticket to any Ivy league.

athletics > academics.

(global understanding/perspective + culture > athletics) > academics.

but academics is still pretty big.

I don't think so. My essays dealt with my travels to 6 out of 7 continents and my interest in looking at everything from a global persepctive from when I was a young kid, and I still got rejected. With basically perfect academics.

Benching 400+ is much more impressive than getting a 1600.

you got a pretty good chance...except whats your GPA and what school would you apply to like regular upenn, nursing, wharton...etc.

good chances, but still a little early! at least your palnning!

high school before college, sweetness

does anyone think people who get into incredible schools because of their athletics are slightly frowned upon...i think when everyone obviously knows they didnt have the academics to just get in they dont get the same kind of respect...not thats its bad to get in on athletics...good for them...but i dont tihnk your looked up to as well

your asian so you have pretty good chances

get off this site, lol, just... WALK AWAY

guys like you make the rest of us look bad!

walks away

No its ok Penguin dude. Since you're good at math/sciences why don't you set aside some time to try for the Intel or Seimens Westinghouse competitions? Very prestigious and you seem like a smart guy. Doing well at those is a very good thing for colleges to see, and even just participating can give you an experience to write about, and your research is still valuable. so yeah try that. And also, the only thing I can see hurting you is your "lack" of leadership in ECs. But you're only in 10th grade...so try to become president/captain of at least 1 or 2 activities and you're SET.

Please enjoy life while it lasts :O

go to some parties. ease up a bit.

crank it juinor/senior year.

Don't do things just for college, but do try and find leadership positions in activities that you're passionate about. Do something unusual! Ivy league schools like kids who love what they're doing and love doing something special, and Penn is no different. Admissions officers, believe it or not, CAN tell if you're doing something just for college. I have a friend who got deferred from his first choice school, and he's a Siemman's Westinghouse Semifinalist AND WON another national contest. IMO, entering such competitions, while they will help in admissions, do not guarantee you a spot in any college, especially an Ivy. So, if you're going to spend lots of time on something, you might as well spend it on something you love :)

with such good preparation in math why would you do UPenn? i think heir sciences are not that good, but i might be wrong. anybody has any comments on that?
