Gaffe: I think you're speculating quite a bit. Adcoms will tell you: major doesn't matter, because they know you'll probably be changing it.

^Your UW GPA for Stanford is fine. But your weighted GPA is lower than one would hope as a higher GPA would imply a tougher course load.

I though Stanford doesn't care about weighted gpas?

I feel like everyone is ignoring what I originally intended. I'm fully aware that a 3.8 with a 14% class rank, but near perfect scores absolutely sucks and puts me at a disadvantage.

I posted these threads to see what my chances were for the Universities with the fact that freshmen year is sometimes disregarded (Stanford), or less emphasis placed on it (Other universities)..

I would give you your better chance on the opposit coast from the one on which you live. Stanford is trying to lower the percentage of kids from CA and the West. Columbia is not as popular with CA kids as the non urban ivies.

It's a bit confusing when a school says they don't count freshman year. Both Princeton and Stanford told us they still use your school rank with freshman year factored in, they just recalculate GPA without that year. Huh?

Stanford: High Reach
Columbia: High Reach
Georgetown: Low Reach/Reach
Northwestern: Low Reach/Reach
UChicago: Reach
NYU: Match
UVA: Low Match
