Chances to the Hotel School?

I wish I knew about these forums when I was a junior and not just after I had already finished everything lol

If you apply early then you will probably show that you are interested more and you will be compared with this year's class instead of next's. (In case they have an amazing pool)

i only got guaranteed transfer for spring 2007 but my SAT score was only 1960 and gpa was 3.8. i think you have a pretty good chance. i had my internship at the ritz carlton and i think that really helped.

one thing that my interviewer said was that the hotel school doesn't want people who have perfect 2400 because the hospitality industry isn't about how intelligent you are but rather a balance of everything.

also one of the concentration at the hotel school is finance/accounting/real estate so it might fit your interest.

lastly, i don't think they require a specific SAT II like math iic. i just like 5 different ones and didn't get over 700 in any including math iic. the school get to see all the tests you've taken and they'll take the highest scores including SAT I. so like if you get 680 690 700 on the 1st test. 700, 720, 650 on the 2nd test. they'll look at the higher grades: 700, 720, 700.

oh...and i did early decision and was moved to regular pool.

thanks guys....from the last couple of days my mind has really changed on what college I should apply ED to. I was thinking of Wharton, but I really dont think I have a good shot there. That's why I am interestested in the Hotel School for real estate. I rather get into a prestigious school ED than the best school (wharton) in which I have no chance.

Also, does cornell recalulate gpa?
my school's is:
98-100 = 4
93-97 = 3.666
90-92 = 3.333
87-89 = 3

And, when I apply, will my application be reviewes against Hotel School applicants or everyone who applies to Cornell?

What is the Hotel Schoool ranked in Real Estate?

Thanks for your help.

Excel........go to this link.. http://www.hotelschool.cornell.edu/alumni/trusteecouncilpres100205.pdf
gives you a good idea of the class that entered in 2005.

Avg sats scores
Work Experience etc

thanks......

Could I primarily major in real estate (development)...nothing to due with hotels/motels.

also..what is the idea act score? i got 25 and 11 on essay...do you think the high essay score will counter the low english and reading score?

for hotel school, it's mandatory that students take a math sat2, which one is up to you. =)

i don't think so. the hotel school is about hotel. if you want to focus on real estate, go to a business school.

thecheezeburger: doesnt the hotel school have real estate courses?

well i'm not a student yet. but i believe there are real estate courses but the real estate is just a concentration for hotel administration...and real estate is apart of the finance

Is there a real estate ranking? You know how (some) kids are always bragging about their schools? Well one kid was like (BLANK) has the best real estate [major?] in the nation! Even better than MIT! The problem is that BLANK isn't a good school so I donno what to think about it...

so I can primarily concentrate on real estate?

There is a concentration in Real Estate Finance

Real Estate Finance

Advisors: J. Corgel, D. Quan

This concentration is designed for students seeking a career in real estate and real estate finance at an investment bank, with an REIT, or with a real estate fund

Courses Required:

* HAdm 323 Hospitality Real Estate Finance
* HAdm 420 Principles of Real Estate

At least two of the following courses, totaling at least 6 credits:

* HAdm 487 Real Estate Law
* HAdm 525 Securitization and Structured Financial Products
* HAdm 527 Hospitality Asset Management
* HAdm 528 Advanced Topics in Real Estate and Finance
* HAdm 628 Real Estate Finance and Investments

it still seems weird to me for you to focus on real estate at the hotel school.

but look what i found! http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/college/rankings/brief/business/bizspec07_brief.php

Undergraduate business specialties:
Real Estate

University of Pennsylvania (Wharton)

University of California–Berkeley (Haas) *

University of Georgia (Terry) *

I don't subscribe to it so I can't see any further. The BLANK school = UCONN...what is it actually ranked? I knew he was mistaken...

Thanks

thanks....(i wish i could see all the schools)

i don't subscribe either.

Well guys, I took the SAT yesterday and I feel REALLY REALLY GOOD about it. Hopefully I will get at least 600+ in all the sections. :)
