I go to a high school in rather rural area which sends about 30%-40% of its students to four year colleges. I know that my subject tests are low, but they are quite high compared to my classmates, in case it matters. Very few apply to or go to Ivies (one sent in the last three years). I've got ELC for UCs, and if you need any more info please ask.

Any info or suggestions would be nice.

Stanford is reach
cornell brown and UC Berkeley are slight reaches
the rest you should get into to

what are the IB diploma all about

Brown - MATCH
Middlebury - MATCH
Stanford - REACH
UC Berkeley - SAFETY (INSTATE), MATCH (OUT)
NYU - SAFETY
Cornell - MATCH
UC Santa Cruz - SAFETY
UC Davis - SAFETY
Bryn Mawr - MATCH

The IB programme is somewhat similar to AP, but to get a full diploma you have to test in six different subject areas, take Theory of Knowledge (philosophy, basically), do 150 hours of sort-of community service and write an extended essay on the subject of your choice.

I probably should have put Ivies in the title..that always brings them in. Ah, well. Anyone else? My intended major at the moment is linguistics or international relations, in case it matters.

I think Brown and Stanford are reaches. All the others are matches or safeties.

Since Brown and Stanford are pretty much reaches for everyone, could anyone give some more specifics as to what my chances at those places are? Brown particularly, since it's really my first choice.

More opinions on the others, of course, are still welcome.

you have a 41.923% chance at getting into Brown

azelma:

UCB: Match
UCD: Safety
UCSC: Super Safety

lol to "super safety"
I am actually oddly fond of Santa Cruz, but I'd rather go to the east coast.
I also ended up applying to Princeton. For chuckles, mostly.
