Hi! I'm a high school junior and Cornell is my dream school. What are my chances of getting accepted ED?
GPA: 4.0 UW/4.50W
SAT1: 700R/780M/690W
SAT2: 780 Math 2, 710 Chem
ACT: 35
AP: several 5s several 4s
EC: at least 10 hours a week of various activities but mainly band stuff
100+ Volunteer hours

I'm a Hispanic female and want to apply to CoE. Thanks for you input!

Your objective numbers are certainly on target with the school. As the Engineering college will want to evaluate your mathematical prowess, the 780’s on your math subsection and Math subject test will work well in your favor. Since your scores and gpa aren’t a problem, you just need to emphasize your passions in your application, possibly the “band stuff” if you’re really into it. If you show your passions well on your essays and what not, I don’t see why they wouldn’t accept you.

Your number’s are pretty similar to my S’s, who was accepted RD (didn’t apply ED) into CoE (and he’s a white male).

Talk to teachers before you leave school this year about whether they’d be willing to write you a great recommendation. And write some great essays (common App and Engineering supplement). Try to express why Cornell is a perfect fit for you in your supplement essay (in addition to answering the actual question asked).

I think you have a decent chance, but keep in mind that admissions can really be a crap shoot, so make sure you don’t get too fixated on any single school.
