chances??

hello I am going to be a senior in a public high school in New York. I am currently ranked 14/396. My GPA is 3.9 and I have taken 4 AP classes( World History(4), U.S. History(5), Statistics(4), and Language and Composition(3). I plan on taking 4 more AP classessenior year(calculus ab, physics b, literature, and Government), However my SAT's are very weak. Math-720 Reading-600 Writing-630. SATll's Math 1-700, U.S. History-670. I still need to take the ACT in the fall
freshman year - freshman soccer captain, winter track varsity sportsmanship award, J.V. lacrosse
Sophomore year - J.V. soccer captain, varsity winter track captain, varsity sportsmanship award and all-league, varsity spring track captain and all-league, national honor society
Junior year - varsity cross-country captain all-league, varsity winter track captain, all-league, league champion team, part of long island champion relay team, part of relay team that ran the 15th fastest time in the nation(finished 12th at nationals), varsity spring track captain, all-league, and ran a 4:27 mile
Senior year - It is probable that I will be all-county in cross country and captain again, and part of an all-american relay team in the winter running a county record.
I most likely will not be recruited by any of the following schools because individually I am not an elite runner that would be recruited by the following upper-tier Division 1 schools. Will these track achievements help me gain admission in to schools if I am not running in college?
Would I have a chance at gaining admission at U.V.A., U.N.C., Georgetown, UMichigan- Ann Arbor, Villanova, johns Hopkins, William and Mary, Cornell

anybody???

…

I would say you have a chance at most of these schools - UNC being the hardest. Villanova and William and Mary probably being the best shots. Do you have some safeties too? Some of these are reaches and some matches but you need a safety or two. Goodluck

Alright thanks for the input, and yes I plan on applying to suny Binghamton and suny stony brook as safety schools.

Bump…

Bump…

anyone else have any opinions??

…

You definitely will need some safety school. Your reaches will be Hopkins and unc. You will need to get either your SAT up or take the ACT and get at least a 30. A 32 would be up to par for the top schools and Ivys. Your ECs look good. Make sure you have good essays that really bring you out.

alright thanks, I didnt realize U.N.C. was so difficult to get into, harder than cornell and georgetown?

anymore input?

I would say easier than those two… But schools with low admission rates tend to have random selectivity so it is a lot of luck. Some get rejected from Cornell but accepted to Harvard and Princeton and Yale.

bump…

At UNC, 82% of the freshmen seats are for in state students, thus making it highly competitive for out if state applicants. Add in their 35% acceptance rate and it is just as hard if not harder to get in to as Cornell or Georgetown.
