Chances?

+1: should I apply under Early or Regular action?

Bit late for Early Action, haha.

Parchment chances are meaningless for the Ivy League schools, because the process is so subjective. Remember, typically half of the decision is based on your non-academic side, and no computer can rank that.

Parchment predictions overall are not accurate. A year ago, my nephew was given a 100% chance at getting into Middlebury and about a 3% chance of getting into Lafayette. Middlebury is harder to get into than Lafayette. He got into Lafayette, but not Middlebury. They have changed their formula since, but don’t pay any attention to it.

What can have some value with Parchment is looking at the profiles one by one of people who got in and who didn’t get in. However, since you are from the Caucusus, the standards for internationals at most schools are different than they are for those in the US.

I faced the same thing, it gave 23% for Harvard and 15% Hopkins :D

okay you definately have a decent chance for Harvard, but you have to emphasize more on your leadership skills and community service than competition awards in your essay unless you have something incredible to talk (like, a story) about regarding your bio awards (Harvard knows how much work it is to get a medal at IBO, and they can see that on your “award” section). Since you are an international, the process will be much harder (afterall there are around a thousand international olympiad medalist in the world, as opposed to like, 30 in the U.S.), so don’t be sad if you are rejected.

If you haven’t started your apps yet, don’t early Harvard-you don’t have much time to hone your essays well (that being said, if you can write essays like 8 hours a day and can find a decent English teacher to help you in the upcoming 3 days, you might want to early decision UPenn/Columbia/Cornell…etc so you don’t waste your early chance).
