With the end of junior year my stats have changed some, so I was curious if that may benefit me at all if I intend an econ major. My gpa as of now is a 4.81 weighted and 4.002 unweighted. I also finished AP Econ with an A+ overall. As for the sat, based on my latest scores, I have 710 CR, 690 Math and 610 Writing, giving me 1400/1600 and 2010/2400. I was just curious if perhaps now I may have better chances. Also, would my higher gpa also balance out my not so impressive sat?
Thank you
Why don’t you take the ACT and see what kind of score you get with that? The ACT is known to put more emphasis on math and science. Your SAT scores are actually very good. So what if writing isn’t just as strong as your Critical Reading and Math scores??? Engineers and other in the sciences aren’t expected to be the best writers too! Make sure you visit the campus. If you live too far away and you can afford the trip I would call your admissions counselor and let her know you need assistance to visit. They do have a Diversity Weekend where they provide students with an all expense paid trip to visit the campus right before the regular admissions decision. Don’t apply early decision because you will need to see what financial assistance the schools you are applying to offer you. I think you have a very good chance to get accepted!!! Best of luck to you! Please keep up posted on your journey!
I was talking with my friend the other day who is applying to Lehigh and she said that Lehigh strongly recommends taking subject tests. How important are they for Lehigh? Like do you think I need to take them?
Lehigh only looks at CR and math and they both are well into the 25/75 percentile range. You can take SAT II - and I would probably recommend taking them if you are looking at other highly selective schools to require them - but I think you’ll be more than fine. If you really want to get in, I would recommend you make a paper trail: visit Lehigh a couple of times and take any opportunity you can to come in contact with admissions officers. You already have a good academic backing and your extracrarriculars are great so I’ll you need to do is really show your interest in the college.
