I was wondering what my chances are for North Carolina State University:
Major: Computer Science
From: Massachusetts
GPA: 3.3
SAT: 1200
Extracurricular: Member of Chess and Cyber Security Club; Soccer Captain and I participate in indoor and outdoor track.
I really want to go to NC State but if I cant what are some other options around the country that are similar to NC State that I could realistically get into.
Looking at their website, it seems like their freshman year had only 17% of students be from OOS with an avg GPA of 1261. (The stats are here: https://admissions.ncsu.edu/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/first_year_facts_2016-PAGES.pdf)
Judging by that, I think your chances at NC State could be fairly low unless you have an EC that you didn’t mention. Realistically, as a MA student, UMass are pretty good schools. I’m not sure on the specifics but UMass Lowell is a possibility.
With that SAT score and GPA, I would look at either private universities or in state public ones.
