nationals 4 times in a row, i think i will join next year, any instrument)
-Planning on becoming Senior Class Officer or President

GPA: Not too good in my Sophomore year. Junior year was the "Recovery year", around a 3.3-3.4 ish. Senior year will

have 6 AP Classes out of 7 and I WILL work my butt off.

NOTE: Consider that I have moved here less than 2 years ago, and english being my 7th language. I have had a huge

progress in many fields, I really hope colleges will consider it.

My dad has worked at UVA for a month, together with the Physics department, he also knows the Department chair and I

could easily get VERY good recommendations from MIT/Yale/Oxford Graduates.

First person in my family to go to college in the USA.

Good Background, nice EC's, I don't know my SAT scores but I took them today, and it was not too bad.
I guess around a 1900-2000, but it was the first time taking them for me, with no preparation.
I still have time for that.

Do you think that with improvement in GPA and SAT, considering being "new" to the country, and very hard courseload,

i'll be able to get in ?

Oh and please don't hesitate in giving me some advice for my Senior year.

Based on your stats probably not, but maybe being a kurd will help

You have a really unique background and set of experiences, I wouldn't cross Dartmouth off of your list.

Definetly work on your SAT's. From what people have told me, Dartmouth puts ALOT of weight on test scores.

Your GPA seems a little below ivy standards, and your EC's are just alright.

That said you have an interesting background, you are well-traveled, and your Kurdish status will definetly make you standout. I'd really use it as a focal point in your essays.

Really, just prep for the SAT's and work real hard senior year. You seem to be very linguisitically talented and it seems like you know alot of languages so that should definetly help. Though, I'd say that you should try to add a little more diversity in your EC's, considering almost all your EC's are ethnic clubs. Joining the orchastera like you mentioned and becoming class president should do the trick!

Yeah but also keep in mind that part of the reason why schools' admission decisions can appear to be arbitrary at times is because they are looking for more than just test scores and gpa. If you have certain other qualities that they are looking for, then they would still certainly take you. For example, Dartmouth prides itself on its intense language department and the patented Rasias method, etc. Your 7 languages will certainly help as a reason for why you fit at Dartmouth. Additionally, keep in mind they are looking for a diverse class, and there are certainly not going to be all that many people who have what you can bring to Dartmouth applying. The net of it is, its not a shoe-in by any means, but that said if you can work on your sat scores and gpa (if possible at this point) then you will stand a much better chance. If not, you still stand a decent chance. Good luck!

Your stats are going to make Dartmouth very difficult. Consider how many internationals apply with perfect Sats having never set foot in the Country. Give it a try, but if your dad works at UVA that seems like your best bet. Letters of recfrom people who went to good colleges won't help.

Although your stats arent spectacular i think that your experiences/ extracurriculars could help you out alot. i wouldnt get your hopes up, but i wouldnt cross dartmouth off the list either
