Chances...

I did an overnight visit in November and Wake is my first choice. How do my chances look?

Black, Female
SAT: 1280
GPA: 3.8 UW, 4.0 w
RANK: 20/200
Very tough course load, 3 AP's by graduation (my school only offers 3)

Beta Club, Treasurer
School Newspaper, Assistant Editor
Cross Country, 4 years on varsity, individual State Champion
Track, 4 years on varsity, individual State Runner-up
National Achievement Scholar
Volunteer Reader to underprivileged kid

Hmm... your chances aren't very great but you definitely have a shot. I don't think many minorities apply to Wake, so they might snatch you up the first chance they get. Did you apply EA/ED to Wake? What state are you from?

I applied RD, I'm from Georgia. I would say that Wake definitely needs minorities. On my visit I only saw like 4 black people, not counting the basketball team.

Haha, I guess minorities are endangered species at Wake. I qualify as a minority and I have seen a quite a few others. There's a black girl here that I know back from HS and I think she had similar stats as yours, but she was from NC. Let us know how it all turns out!

Thanks for replying emsibdn. I'm gonna be a nervous wreck until April!

I would guess that your chances are probably better than 'not very great'. Wake definitely lacks minorities, so it seems you have a very good shot, not that you wouldn't if race was not an issue.

Haha, no problem GArunnergirl. What I meant by not very great was stats-wise. I don't think WF gets many minority applicants, so that should boost her quite a bit.
